pet-project-atlas: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

pet-project-atlas CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from Smolevich/pet-project-atlas. It costs 512 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project-specific instruction file for coding agents working on Pet Project Atlas, a public website about helping side projects get discovered and grow. It explains how the site's documentation and agent skills are organised and maintained.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when editing the Atlas website, its documentation, agent skills, translations, links, builds, or commit messages.
Why use it?
It gives agents the project's rules, file locations, checks, and publishing details so they do not confuse website content with the plugin that performs checks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00512 $0.00512
Opus 5 $0.00256 $0.00256
Sonnet 5 $0.00102 $0.00102
Haiku 4.5 $0.00051 $0.00051

Security

Grade A, and why

pet-project-atlas CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 33 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Pet Project Atlas — notes for agents

Public reference site (Astro + Starlight): how to get a side project found — demand, indexing, AI search, content, distribution, analytics, money. Live at https://atlas.smolevich.com, deployed from main by CI. The site is public on purpose: no Cloudflare Access in front of it.

Two things live here and they are not the same job. Content is what the site publishes (src/content/docs/**). The plugin is what a reader's Claude Code runs (plugin/skills/*/SKILL.md). A page explains; a skill runs a check and points back at the page. If a human reads it, it is a page. If it returns a result, it is a skill.

Specifics live in docs/. Read the file when its topic comes up, not up front.

Topic File One line
Writing content docs/content.md four H2s in order, numbers need sources, both languages move together
The plugin docs/plugin.md no audit engine of our own; command names and install paths break quietly
Checks before a commit docs/checks.md five commands, all must pass, check:links only after build
Commit messages docs/commits.md English, one line, imperative, prefixed by area
Deploy DEPLOY.md CI only; build and deploy are separate jobs on purpose
Voice rules in full STYLE.md what the linter enforces and why
Contributions CONTRIBUTING.md workflow and editorial policy for outside pull requests

Not negotiable

  • No manual deploy. Never build locally and copy to the host. Push to main and let the workflow do it.
  • Nothing about the host in this repo. Not the provider, not what else runs on it. The origin sits behind a tunnel, and a public repo is the wrong place to narrow the search.
  • No secrets in the tree, including in example configs and drafts.
  • The checks pass before the commit, not after the push.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
