A set of AGENTS.md instructions for installing and registering tsetmc-mcp, a server that provides live Tehran Stock Exchange data to AI coding agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when setting up tsetmc-mcp in a coding-agent environment. It covers prerequisites, installation, registration, network requirements, and verification.
Why use it?
It prevents unsafe or incomplete setup, such as inventing a repository URL, using a relative directory, skipping connection checks, or asking for credentials that are not needed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01536 $0.01536
Opus 5 $0.00768 $0.00768
Sonnet 5 $0.00307 $0.00307
Haiku 4.5 $0.00154 $0.00154

Security

Grade C, and why

tsetmc-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade C with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

AGENTS.md — install & register tsetmc-mcp (for AI agents)

You are an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) and a user gave you this repo's URL and asked you to set up the tsetmc-mcp MCP server for them. Follow this playbook exactly. It is a stdio MCP server that gives the user live Tehran Stock Exchange data.

This project needs NO secrets, NO API key, and writes only to ~/.tsetmc-mcp/. Install is safe and idempotent — you can re-run it. Do not ask for credentials; there are none.

Do NOT

  • Do not invent a git URL. Use only the URL the user gave you. If none, ask for it.
  • Do not claim success just because claude mcp add exited 0 — you MUST verify the server actually connects (Step 5).
  • Do not leave a relative or ~ --directory — it must be an absolute path. This is the #1 silent-failure cause.
  • Do not route the machine through a VPN, and do not enable the GPL library backend by default (the default raw backend is correct).

Step 0 — check preconditions (report each; STOP if a hard one is unmet)

  1. Iranian IP, no foreign VPN — TSETMC blocks non-Iranian IPs. The server will still register but return zero live data otherwise. You can't reliably detect this yourself; the selfcheck in Step 3 is the real test. Warn the user now.
  2. uv installed — run uv --version. If missing, install: curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh (then re-check).
  3. claude CLI present — run claude --version (or confirm the user's MCP client).
  4. Python ≥ 3.11uv will provision it if needed.

Step 1 — get the code

git clone <THE-URL-THE-USER-GAVE> tsetmc-mcp
cd tsetmc-mcp

Branch/tag note: prefer a pinned tag if one exists (git clone --branch v0.1.0 <url>). If a plain clone lands on an empty tree, the repo's default branch differs from where the code lives — check git branch -a and check out the branch that has the code.

Step 2 — install

uv sync

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
