Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01570 $0.01570
Opus 5 $0.00785 $0.00785
Sonnet 5 $0.00314 $0.00314
Haiku 4.5 $0.00157 $0.00157

Measured 4d ago against content hash 732b86fa476d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

docx-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project

docx-mcp is a Python library that applies AI-generated legal document changes as professional tracked changes (w:ins/w:del) with comments inside .docx files. It manipulates OOXML directly via lxml -- python-docx is only used in test fixture generation.

Build / Lint / Test

# Install dependencies
uv sync

# Run all tests
uv run pytest tests/ -v

# Run a single test file
uv run pytest tests/test_redliner.py -v

# Run a single test by name
uv run pytest tests/test_redliner.py::TestSingleModify::test_modify_produces_tracked_changes -v

# Lint
uvx ruff check src/ tests/

# Auto-fix lint
uvx ruff check src/ tests/ --fix

# Type check
uvx ty check src/ tests/

# Run the MCP server (stdio transport)
uv run docx-mcp-server

Test fixtures (.docx files) are auto-generated on first run by a session-scoped pytest fixture. They live in tests/fixtures/generated/ (gitignored).

LSP errors about unresolved imports (lxml, pydantic, docx, pytest, diff_match_patch) are expected -- these packages lack type stubs but work at runtime. Do not try to fix these.

Code Style

Imports

Imports are ordered: stdlib, third-party, local -- each group separated by a blank line, alphabetical within each group. Enforced by ruff rule I (isort).

import contextlib
from pathlib import Path

from lxml import etree

from docx_mcp.document import DocxDocument
from docx_mcp.models import Change, ChangeType, RedlineConfig

Formatting

  • Line length: 100 characters.
  • Target: Python 3.14+ (py314).
  • Ruff rules enforced: F, E, W, I, UP, B, SIM, ANN, RUF.
  • ANN (type annotations) is disabled for test files.

Type Annotations

  • Use modern union syntax: str | None, Path | str | bytes. Never Optional or Union.
  • lxml elements are typed as etree._Element (the private type is the convention here).
  • All public functions have full parameter and return type annotations.
  • Keyword-only arguments after * for id_manager and config parameters.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
