spartan: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

spartan CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from spartan-ng/spartan. It costs 438 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository guidance for AI coding agents working in the spartan-ng/spartan project, an Nx workspace for managing related packages. It explains local checks, formatting, tests, builds, and commit-message rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing code in this repository, especially before pushing or committing. It covers linting, formatting, testing, building, and Conventional Commits, a standard commit-message format.
Why use it?
It helps prevent avoidable CI failures and rejected commits before code is pushed. CI is the automated system that checks proposed changes.

About the project

spartan is an Nx monorepo containing Angular UI building blocks and a full-stack application setup: its UI package provides accessible, unstyled primitives, while its CLI copies customizable components into projects. It is for Angular developers building interfaces and full-stack applications, and the catalogue includes an instruction and a skill for working with the project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00438 $0.00438
Opus 5 $0.00219 $0.00219
Sonnet 5 $0.00088 $0.00088
Haiku 4.5 $0.00044 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

spartan CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Working in this repo (notes for Claude / AI agents)

Conventions for this nx workspace, written to avoid the common CI failures.

Before pushing: run the CI checks locally

CI (.github/workflows/ci.yml) runs the steps below. Run them locally first so a push does not bounce on something that was avoidable:

  • pnpm run lint
  • pnpm nx format:write then pnpm nx format:check --base=origin/main - the format-and-lint job fails on any unformatted file; format:write fixes them. Run this AFTER any code change, including ones a linter/formatter made, and re-check before committing.
  • pnpm run test
  • pnpm run build

Commit messages (Conventional Commits, enforced by commitlint with failOnWarnings)

See commitlint.config.cjs and CONTRIBUTING.md.

  • Format: <type>(<scope>): <subject> - the scope is OPTIONAL.
  • Allowed types: feat, fix, docs, style, refactor, perf, test, build, ci, chore, revert.
  • If you include a scope it MUST be one of the scope-enum values (the component names plus cli, nx, repo, trpc, typography). NOTE: app is NOT a valid scope - omit the scope for docs-app changes rather than inventing one.
  • A blank line is required between the subject and the body, and before the footer.
  • No line in the message may exceed 100 characters.
  • Do NOT add a Co-Authored-By (or any AI) trailer.

Pull requests

  • Always populate .github/PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md: tick the checklist, the PR type, the affected package(s), and fill "current behavior" / "new behavior" / breaking-change. Create with gh pr create --body-file <filled-template-file>.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
