go-skills: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

go-skills AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from spf13/go-skills. It costs 418 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for maintaining a collection of Go-related agent skills. They describe the repository layout, configuration files, integrations, and update rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when adding, renaming, or updating Go skills and when checking the required files, dependencies, tests, and synchronization steps.
Why use it?
They give coding agents the project context and prevent changes from leaving marketplace manifests, documentation, or synchronized configuration out of date.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions .claude-plugin; mentions Claude Code.

This is spf13/go-skills's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on go-skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything go-skills configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00418 $0.00418
Opus 5.5 $0.00167 $0.00167
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00084 $0.00084
Haiku 4.5 $0.00042 $0.00042

Security

Grade A, and why

go-skills AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Go Skills (spf13/go-skills) — Agent Instructions

Source repository for spf13's Go Agent Skills marketplace. The skills table in README.md lists every skill.

Repository Layout

  • Each top-level skill directory contains a SKILL.md with YAML frontmatter (name, description) and a .claude-plugin/plugin.json.
  • .claude-plugin/marketplace.json is the Claude Code marketplace manifest. Keep it in sync whenever a skill is added, renamed, or removed.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md lists every rule CI enforces. Read it before changing a skill or a manifest.

Checks

Run these before committing. CI runs the same set, plus a link check of README.md and CONTRIBUTING.md; a monthly workflow checks each skill's current through Go X.Y claim against the latest Go release (check_go_release.py, see CONTRIBUTING.md).

python3 -m unittest discover -s .github/scripts
python3 .github/scripts/check_invariants.py
python3 .github/scripts/validate_manifests.py
python3 .github/scripts/check_skill_code.py # needs the latest stable Go on PATH
(cd .github/claims && go test ./...)

Using these skills from a local clone

Skills are plain directories, so a local clone can serve any agent that reads a skills directory:

  • Link each skill into the agent's skills directory (for example ~/.agents/skills/<skill>), as the README describes. Edits to a linked SKILL.md take effect immediately on that machine.
  • If you sync skills across machines with a linking tool, re-run its sync after adding, renaming, or removing a skill so new links are created and stale ones removed. Editing an existing skill needs no re-sync.
  • Other machines pick up changes with git pull --ff-only in their clone, followed by the sync step when skills were added, renamed, or removed.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
