weblogic-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

weblogic-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from SPS-Tech-is-now/weblogic-mcp. It costs 2,449 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of Claude Code instructions for an MCP server that exposes Oracle WebLogic Server administration tools. It creates WebLogic Scripting Tool scripts at runtime and runs them through the WebLogic command-line program.

In plain words
What is it for?
Automating WebLogic administration through MCP, including generating and executing WLST scripts. It also covers dependencies, configuration, project structure, and tests.
Why use it?
It explains how to set up, run, test, and understand the server while documenting safeguards against unsafe script injection.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02449 $0.02449
Opus 5 $0.01224 $0.01224
Sonnet 5 $0.00490 $0.00490
Haiku 4.5 $0.00245 $0.00245

Security

Grade A, and why

weblogic-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this is

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, implemented as a single Python file (src/wlst_mcp.py), that exposes Oracle WebLogic Server administration as MCP tools. It works by generating WLST (WebLogic Scripting Tool / Jython) script fragments at runtime, writing them to a temp file, and shelling out to the wlst.sh/wlst.cmd executable to run them.

Setup and running

pip install -r requirements.txt

Run directly (used as the MCP server entry point, normally launched by an MCP client, not by hand):

python src/wlst_mcp.py

There is no build step or lint config. There is a pytest suite under tests/ (install with pip install -r requirements-dev.txt, run with python -m pytest) that, without needing a live WebLogic domain:

  • monkeypatches _execute_wlst_script to capture the generated WLST/Jython source instead of running it, then asserts on that source via the ast module (e.g. that user-supplied values can't break out of their string literal — test_tool_injection.py/test_script_injection.py) or via substring checks for code that's harder to parse generically (test_remote_filesystem_awareness.py, test_create_datasource.py).
  • monkeypatches it to return canned/crafted stdout (including realistic WLST banner noise) to exercise the sentinel-line + JSON parsing and Markdown/JSON rendering on the Python side (test_core_utilities.py).
  • tests Pydantic input validation and _handle_error directly (test_core_utilities.py).
  • spawns a subprocess to verify wlst_execute_script's opt-in registration gate (test_execute_script_guardrails.py).

It does not exercise WLST itself — there is no way to validate the runtime behavior of a generated script (e.g. whether cmo.createJDBCSystemResource(...) actually works against a real domain) without one. For that, exercise the tool through an MCP client (e.g. Claude Code's .mcp.json/~/.claude.json config, see README.md) against a real or test WebLogic domain.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
