sim-cli: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

sim-cli AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from svd-ai-lab/sim-cli. It costs 224 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Project instructions for the `sim-cli` workspace, a toolkit whose plugins support scientific software runtimes. They describe where core code and plugins live, how to test and build packages, and how to publish releases.

In plain words
What is it for?
They help maintain plugin structure, run tests, regenerate the plugin index, build individual packages, and prepare core or plugin releases.
Why use it?
They keep independently published plugins separate from the core package and prevent accidental changes to external dependencies. They also provide the required commands for workspace checks and package metadata updates.

This is svd-ai-lab/sim-cli's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on sim-cli itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything sim-cli configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00224 $0.00224
Opus 5.5 $0.00090 $0.00090
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00045 $0.00045
Haiku 4.5 $0.00022 $0.00022

Security

Grade A, and why

sim-cli AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Workspace maintenance

Core runtime lives in src/sim; each independently published plugin lives in plugins/<solver>. Keep the entry-point interface and plugin _skills/ paths. simparse is a separate PyPI dependency; do not vendor its implementation.

Use uv sync --locked --all-packages --group dev, then uv run --no-sync python scripts/workspace.py test. Tests run in separate processes per package. Public tests use unit tests and tiny synthetic fixtures. Solver execution cases and detailed regression data belong in private sim-proj/cases/; do not add them here.

Regenerate plugin-index.json with uv run python scripts/workspace.py index after package metadata changes. Check it with --check.

Build one package with uv build --no-sources --package <distribution>. Core releases use v<version> and publish.yml; plugin releases use <solver>-v<version> and plugin-publish.yml, each matching package metadata. Never combine sibling distributions in one publication artifact set.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
