controld-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

controld-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from SwaggyMike/controld-mcp. It costs 147 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for working with the Control D MCP server, including rules for secrets, output, changes, logging, and API access. MCP is a standard way for an agent to call external tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Guiding implementation and review of the Control D MCP server, including secure configuration, safe mutating tools, constrained API access, and compiled Node.js imports.
Why use it?
It reduces the risk of exposing the Control D token, leaking sensitive activity data, or making unconfirmed changes while developing the server.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00147 $0.00147
Opus 5 $0.00073 $0.00073
Sonnet 5 $0.00029 $0.00029
Haiku 4.5 $0.00015 $0.00015

Security

Grade A, and why

controld-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Agent guidance

  • Keep the Control D token out of source control, logs, test fixtures, and MCP output. The preferred runtime file is ~/.config/controld-mcp.env with mode 0600.
  • MCP protocol output belongs on stdout; diagnostics belong on stderr.
  • Every mutating tool must require confirm: true and should verify the resulting state.
  • Do not add a generic request or arbitrary-URL tool. Keep API paths and analytics hosts constrained.
  • Treat activity-log data as sensitive and never persist it.
  • Control D's API is unversioned. Keep undocumented dashboard contracts isolated and tested.
  • Use .js suffixes for local imports so compiled ESM works in Node.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
