GhidrAssistMCP: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

GhidrAssistMCP CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from symgraph/GhidrAssistMCP. It costs 1,019 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Build instructions for a Ghidra extension written in Java. Ghidra is a tool for examining compiled programs, and the extension includes analyzers, loaders, exporters and file-system components.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to configure the Ghidra path, build a distributable extension and locate its Java code, tests, language files, scripts, dependencies and output.
Why use it?
It identifies the required Ghidra installation setting, build command and important source directories, making the extension easier to compile and maintain.

This is symgraph/GhidrAssistMCP's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on GhidrAssistMCP itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything GhidrAssistMCP configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01019 $0.01019
Opus 5 $0.00509 $0.00509
Sonnet 5 $0.00204 $0.00204
Haiku 4.5 $0.00102 $0.00102

Measured 9d ago against content hash 309709bb9770, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

GhidrAssistMCP CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Build and Development Commands

Building the Extension

# Set GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR environment variable first
export GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR=/path/to/ghidra

# Build the extension
gradle distributeExtension

# Or specify Ghidra path directly
gradle -PGHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR=/path/to/ghidra distributeExtension

Project Structure

This is a Ghidra extension project with the following key components:

  • Main Plugin: GhidrAssistMCPPlugin.java - Core plugin with UI provider and actions
  • Analyzer: GhidrAssistMCPAnalyzer.java - Custom analyzer for binary analysis
  • Loader: GhidrAssistMCPLoader.java - Custom loader for specific file formats
  • Exporter: GhidrAssistMCPExporter.java - Custom exporter functionality
  • File System: GhidrAssistMCPFileSystem.java - Custom file system implementation

Key Directories

  • src/main/java/ghidrassistmcp/ - Main Java source code
  • src/test/java/ - Test files
  • data/ - Language specifications (SLEIGH files)
  • ghidra_scripts/ - Ghidra scripts
  • lib/ - External dependencies
  • dist/ - Built extension output

Development Notes

  • Extension uses Ghidra's plugin architecture with standard lifecycle methods
  • All components extend appropriate Ghidra base classes (AbstractAnalyzer, AbstractProgramWrapperLoader, etc.)
  • Built extension will be placed in dist/ directory
  • Language specifications in data/languages/ define custom processor architectures
  • Help documentation is in src/main/help/

Dependencies

  • Requires Ghidra installation with matching Gradle version
  • Uses Ghidra's buildExtension.gradle for build configuration
  • MCP SDK (io.modelcontextprotocol.sdk:mcp:0.9.0) for Model Context Protocol support
  • Jetty 11.0.20 for embedded HTTP server
  • Jackson 2.17.0 for JSON processing

MCP Server

The extension includes an embedded MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that:

  • Runs on port 8080 by default
  • Provides SSE endpoint at /mcp/sse and HTTP request endpoint at /mcp/message
  • Automatically tracks the currently loaded program
  • Exposes Ghidra analysis capabilities via MCP tools:
    • get_program_info: Get basic program information
    • list_functions: List all functions in the program
    • get_function_info: Get detailed function information

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
