mcp-dockhand: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/instructions/copilot-review.instructions.md

mcp-dockhand copilot-review.instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from t1nk333r/mcp-dockhand. It costs 295 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of mcp-dockhand copilot-review.instructions.md, MIT.

A set of pull-request review rules for mcp-dockhand, a project that connects AI tools to Dockhand's Docker-management API. It tells reviewers what technical and security checks to perform.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for reviewing changes to API tools, request schemas, path handling, environment scoping, streaming operations, dependency updates, merge behavior, and test coverage.
Why use it?
It reduces the chance that changes use the wrong API details, expose path-injection risks, mishandle environments or errors, or add weak tests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00295 $0.00295
Opus 5 $0.00148 $0.00148
Sonnet 5 $0.00059 $0.00059
Haiku 4.5 $0.00030 $0.00030

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-dockhand copilot-review.instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Copilot Code Review Instructions

When reviewing pull requests in this repository:

  1. Verify against upstream Dockhand API — check finsys/dockhand source code for correct HTTP methods, parameter names, and response formats. Flag any mismatch as HIGH priority.
  2. Check all path parameters use encodePath() from src/utils/encode-path.ts — this is a security requirement.
  3. Verify Zod schemas have .describe() on all parameters — LLMs need these descriptions.
  4. Flag generic types like Record<string, unknown> — prefer explicit parameter definitions.
  5. Verify environment scoping — all environment-specific tools must pass env query parameter.
  6. Check for breaking changes in dependency updates — especially Zod v3 to v4 and Node.js major versions.
  7. Ensure SSE handling for deploy/start/stop operations uses postSSE method.
  8. Validate error handling — all tool handlers must catch and format errors properly.
  9. Check merge orderadditionalConfig/additionalSettings must be merged BEFORE explicit fields, not after.
  10. Verify tests — new tools need test coverage, existing tests must not have false positives.
  11. Check for performance — avoid unnecessary API calls (e.g. GET before every PUT just to read one field).
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
