Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00445 | $0.00445 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00178 | $0.00178 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00089 | $0.00089 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00044 | $0.00044 |
Grade A, and why
viral-ops GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
What it actually says
Gemini Setup — FREE ✨ (Recommended)
Gemini is the default AI provider for viral-ops and it's completely free.
No billing required. No credit card. Just a Google account.
Free tier limits
| Limit | Amount |
|---|---|
| Requests per minute | 15 |
| Tokens per day | 1,000,000 |
| Cost | $0 |
A full viral-ops run (3 videos analyzed) uses roughly 5,000–8,000 tokens. You have plenty of room.
Setup
1. Go to Google AI Studio
aistudio.google.com/app/apikey
Sign in with your Google account.
2. Create an API key
Click Create API key → select any Google Cloud project (or let it create one for you) → copy the key.
3. Add it to your .env
GEMINI_API_KEY=your_key_here
4. Set it in profile.yml
ai_provider: gemini
That's it. No billing setup, no credit card.
Model
viral-ops uses gemini-2.5-flash — Google's latest fast model. It's accurate, cheap, and handles the analysis prompts reliably.
Troubleshooting
GEMINI_API_KEY not set — your .env file is either missing or not in the project root folder. Make sure you ran cp templates/.env.example .env and filled in your key.
Rate limit hit — Gemini's free tier allows 15 requests per minute. If you see a rate limit error, wait a minute and try again. viral-ops adds a small delay between calls automatically to reduce this.
High demand / 503 error — Google's servers are busy. This is temporary. Wait 60 seconds and run again.
Invalid API key — go back to aistudio.google.com/app/apikey, create a new key, and update your .env.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
