Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Grade A, and why
mcp-proxy CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 84 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Project
An MCP proxy server (Go, single main package, flat layout) that aggregates multiple downstream MCP servers behind one HTTP entrypoint. Each configured downstream server is exposed at its own route (<baseURL path>/<serverName>/) via SSE or streamable HTTP.
Commands
make build # CGO_ENABLED=0 build into ./build/ with version ldflags
go test ./... # run all tests
go test -short ./... # unit tests only (skips the process-spawning end-to-end tests)
go test -run TestName . # run a single test (all code is in the root package)
make format # full pipeline: go fix/fmt/vet, tests, go mod tidy, golangci-lint fmt+run, nilaway
./build/mcp-proxy --config config.json # run the server
./build/mcp-proxy -check-config --config ... # validate config and exit
make format expects golangci-lint and nilaway to be installed. Run it (or at least go vet + tests) before considering a change done.
Architecture
Request flow: MCP client → HTTP mux (http.go) → per-server middleware chain (recover, optional logging, optional bearer-token auth) → server.MCPServer (mcp-go) → proxied downstream client (client.go).
main.go— flag parsing and dispatch to one of three modes: normal server,-authorize(interactive OAuth), or-auth-status/-doctor(credential diagnostics).config.go— the (only) V2 config schema, validation, and loading viaconfstore(supports local file or HTTP(S) URL, with env-var expansion). Per-serverOptionsinherit frommcpProxy.optionsdefaults duringload(). The V1 schema was removed;FullConfigstill carries the oldserver/clientskeys asjson.RawMessagepurely so a V1 file fails with a migration hint instead of "mcpProxy is required".client.go— wraps mcp-go clients for the three transports (stdio,sse,streamable-http). On startup, each client connects, initializes, and copies the downstream server's tools/prompts/resources/resource-templates onto the localMCPServer(with pagination and tool allow/block filtering). Every client gets a keepalive probe loop (options.pingInterval, default 30s) that drives the health state behind/_readyz— a realtools/listrequest on modern protocol connections (2026-07-28 removed ping), ping on legacy ones.Client.connectbuilds the transport, swaps it in undermu, and closes the previous one; tool/prompt/resource handlers resolve the live transport throughgetClient()at call time, so reconnecting is transparent to in-flight requests.Startgets the long-lived context — mcp-go's SSE transport ties its event stream to it and stdio stores it for request handling — so onlyInitializeis bounded byconnectTimeout.oauth.go/oauth_store.go— OAuth client support for downstream servers requiring interactive auth (e.g. Notion). Tokens and dynamically-registered client credentials persist as JSON under the user config dir (~/.config/mcp-proxy/oauth/on Linux) viaFileTokenStore, so a one-off-authorizerun shares state with the daemon.oauthAwareErrordecorates connection failures with re-auth hints.doctor.go— backs-auth-status(local-only: config + cached token expiry) and-doctor(additionally connects to each remote server; may refresh tokens but never opens a browser).
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mcp-proxy CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository tbxark/mcp-proxy (742 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 1,939 tokens to every session, about $0.0078 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-14.
