powerplatform-CodeApps

A setup guide for Power Apps Code Apps, which are custom web applications built with tools such as Vite and connected to Microsoft Power Platform. It covers project setup, SDK integration, data handling, and deployment.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to start a React or Vite Code App, connect Power Platform services, develop with mock data, and prepare the app for deployment.
Why use it?
It gives developers a Power Platform-specific starting path instead of leaving them to infer the required folders, tools, and setup steps.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.04310 $0.04310
Opus 5 $0.02155 $0.02155
Sonnet 5 $0.00862 $0.00862
Haiku 4.5 $0.00431 $0.00431

Security

Grade A, and why

powerplatform-CodeApps scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Power Apps Code Apps Development Guide

This guide covers Power Apps Code Apps-specific setup and integration. For general React development, Fluent UI 9 patterns, routing, and UI best practices, refer to React-SPA.instructions.md.

Power Apps Code Apps Workflow:

  1. Code App project setup (Power Platform-specific)
  2. Power Platform SDK integration
  3. Data management (mock first, then Power Platform connectors)
  4. Build and deployment to Power Platform

For React Development: See React-SPA.instructions.md for:

  • Folder structure and organization
  • Fluent UI 9 components and theming
  • React Router implementation
  • Performance optimization
  • Responsive design patterns
  • Accessibility guidelines

1. Code App Project Setup (Official)

Follow these steps to create a complete Power Apps Code App from scratch.

Prerequisites

Step 0: Create folders

  1. Create a folder named CodeApps in your development directory
  2. Inside CodeApps, create a folder named after your app, e.g. AppName
    • AppName will be replaced by the name of the app. Ask the user to provide it.
  3. Inside AppName, create a README.md with the detail of the CodeApp context.
    • Follow the src/README.md template from React-SPA.instructions.md

Step 1: Initialize your Vite App

  1. Open Visual Studio Code and open a new PowerShell terminal and enter:

    npm create vite@latest AppName -- --template react-ts
    cd .\CodeApps\AppName
    npm install

  2. If you are asked, agree to install create-vite

  3. Accept the default package name AppName by pressing Enter.

  4. If you are asked to select a framework, select React.

  5. If you are asked to select a variant, select TypeScript.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

powerplatform-CodeApps is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository tchinnin/powerplatform-vibecoding-samples (6 stars, last pushed 7mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 4,310 tokens to every session, about $0.0215 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
