agent-rules-kit AGENTS.md

An instruction guide for Agent Rules Kit, a command-line tool that creates project rules for the Cursor code editor and Model Context Protocol tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Setting up rules for a chosen technology stack, version, architecture style, editor, and selected MCP tools.
Why use it?
It tells an agent how to install the project’s technology-specific rules and lists the required engineering constraints.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01898 $0.01898
Opus 5 $0.00949 $0.00949
Sonnet 5 $0.00380 $0.00380
Haiku 4.5 $0.00190 $0.00190

Measured 2d ago against content hash f212ec0043f9, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

agent-rules-kit AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Agent Setup Guide

This document explains how an AI agent can install the rules provided by Agent Rules Kit automatically.

Project Overview

Agent Rules Kit is a CLI that generates Cursor rules (.mdc files) for many technology stacks. It also supports installing guidelines for Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools. The generated rules live inside .cursor/rules/rules-kit/ in your project.

Automatic Installation

As soon as you read this file you should install the rules in the current project. Run the CLI with command line options to skip all interactive prompts. At minimum provide the stack name and version. Example:

npx agent-rules-kit --stack=laravel --version=12 --architecture=ddd --global --mcp-tools=pampa,github --ide=cursor

Complete CLI Options Reference

Core Options

Option Description Example
--stack=<name> Framework or technology stack --stack=laravel
--version=<num> Stack version to install rules for --version=12
--architecture=<name> Architecture style (standard, ddd, hexagonal) --architecture=ddd
--ide=<name> Target IDE for rule installation --ide=cursor

Global Rules

Option Description
--global Include global best practice rules
--no-global Skip global best practice rules

MCP Tools Integration

Option Description Example
--mcp-tools=<list> Comma-separated list of MCP tools --mcp-tools=pampa,github,memory

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

agent-rules-kit AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository tecnomanu/agent-rules-kit (35 stars, last pushed 11mo ago), licensed ISC. It adds 1,898 tokens to every session, about $0.0095 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
