A repository guide for TestivAI's open-source software development kit, tools for local visual regression testing that compare screenshots to detect unwanted UI changes. It documents the repository layout, commands, packages, and architecture.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing the TestivAI SDK, its Playwright, WebdriverIO, or Selenium integrations, diff reports, MCP server, examples, documentation, end-to-end tests, or GitHub Actions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02303 $0.02303
Opus 5 $0.01151 $0.01151
Sonnet 5 $0.00461 $0.00461
Haiku 4.5 $0.00230 $0.00230

Measured 6d ago against content hash 90cd67e21bc9, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

testivai-oss CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

pnpm changeset # add a new changeset entry (use before PRs that change public API)
pnpm version-packages # bump versions from changesets (run by CI, rarely manual)
pnpm release # publish to npm (run by CI release workflow only)

Architecture — how the OSS lane works

User writes test
  → calls testivai.witness(page, testInfo, 'my-snapshot')
→ @testivai/witness-playwright captures screenshot via Playwright native API
  → @testivai/witness BaselineStore:
      first run  → writes .testivai/baselines/<name>/{screenshot.png, dom.html, metadata.json}
      later runs → writes .testivai/temp/<name>/{screenshot.png, dom.html, metadata.json}
                   then pixel-diffs baseline vs temp
                   then DOM-diffs baseline.dom.html vs temp.dom.html
  → reporter writes visual-report/results.json + visual-report/index.html

CI (GitHub Actions):
→ testivai/testivai-oss@v1 reads results.json, posts PR comment + commit status
                              bundles .testivai/temp/ → visual-report/pending-baselines/
                              uploads testivai-visual-report artifact
→ developer posts /testivai approve [name|--all] in PR comment
→ testivai/testivai-oss/approve@v1 verifies commenter write access
                                      downloads artifact, copies pending-baselines → .testivai/baselines/
commits updated baselines back to PR branch
                                      CI re-runs → passes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
