genai-solutions-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

genai-solutions-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from tewfiq/genai-solutions-mcp. It costs 720 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for Claude Code, a coding assistant, when working on an MCP server. MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is a way for an AI assistant to use tools provided by another program.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps Claude Code build, start, update, and understand a TypeScript server that searches a database of generative-AI solutions.
Why use it?
It gives the assistant the repository's commands, structure, data sources, and important design decisions in one place.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00720 $0.00720
Opus 5 $0.00360 $0.00360
Sonnet 5 $0.00144 $0.00144
Haiku 4.5 $0.00072 $0.00072

Security

Grade A, and why

genai-solutions-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

What This Is

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that exposes a curated database of 1,100+ generative AI solutions. Built with TypeScript, the @modelcontextprotocol/sdk, and Zod for input validation. Data comes from a private Notion database synced to a committed JSON snapshot (data/solutions.json).

Commands

npm run build # Compile TypeScript (tsc → dist/)
npm start # Start MCP server (stdio transport)
npm run sync # Sync Notion → data/solutions.json (requires NOTION_TOKEN + NOTION_DATA_SOURCE_ID)

No test suite or linter is configured.

Architecture

Three source files (~330 lines total):

  • src/index.ts — Server entry point. Registers four MCP tools: search_solutions, get_solution, list_categories, compare_solutions. Uses stdio transport.
  • src/data.ts — Defines the Solution and Snapshot types. Loads data/solutions.json once at startup (cached in-memory).
  • src/search.ts — Substring search on name only (exact: +10, partial: +5, curator picks: +0.5 bonus). Filters by type, ecosystem, capabilities, origin, picks-only. Default limit 20, max 100.

Sync script:

  • scripts/sync-notion.ts — Fetches from Notion API with a property whitelist (KEEP), generates slug IDs, writes the snapshot. Maintainer-only.

Key Design Decisions

  • Committed snapshot, not live proxydata/solutions.json is versioned in git. No credentials needed to run.
  • Linear substring scan, not vector embeddings — Deterministic, sub-millisecond over ~1,100 records. Avoids embedding costs and non-determinism.
  • Projected search resultssearch_solutions returns light objects (id, name, type, url). Use get_solution for full records. Reduces context consumption for AI agents.
  • Property whitelist in sync — Only explicitly named Notion properties are exported to prevent leaking private workflow state.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
