slkcli CLAUDE.md

slkcli CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for coding agents from therohitdas/slkcli. It costs 527 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project-specific instructions for slkcli, a macOS command-line tool for using Slack without installing a bot. They explain the main files, how to add commands, and how to test and publish changes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Adding slkcli commands, updating its API or command routing, changing help and documentation, running tests, and preparing a package release.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the project’s structure and release steps, reducing guesswork when changing the Slack CLI.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00527 $0.00527
Opus 5 $0.00264 $0.00264
Sonnet 5 $0.00105 $0.00105
Haiku 4.5 $0.00053 $0.00053

Measured 4d ago against content hash 5f36234955ff, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

slkcli CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md — Quick Reference for Claude Code / Codex

What is slk?

Slack CLI for macOS. Auto-auth from Slack desktop app (session cookies, no bot install). Zero dependencies.

Key Files

  • src/commands.js — All command logic. Add new commands here.
  • src/api.jsslackApi() and slackPaginate(). Add POST endpoints to writeMethods array.
  • src/auth.js — Keychain + LevelDB credential extraction. Rarely needs changes.
  • src/drafts.js — Draft commands (create/list/drop).
  • bin/slk.js — CLI entry point. Command routing + help text.

Adding a Feature

  1. Add function in src/commands.js (export async)
  2. If new API needs POST → add to writeMethods in src/api.js
  3. Add case + alias in bin/slk.js switch block
  4. Add to HELP string in bin/slk.js
  5. Update README.md (commands table, examples, flags if any)
  6. Update SKILL.md (commands list)
  7. npm version patch --no-git-tag-version
  8. git add -A && git commit -m "feat: ..." && git push
  9. echo "//registry.npmjs.org/:_authToken=${NPM_PUBLISH_TOKEN}" > .npmrc && npm publish && rm .npmrc
  10. cp SKILL.md ~/moltbot/skills/slk/SKILL.md

Testing

node bin/slk.js <command> # Direct run
slk <command> # If globally linked

Patterns

  • Use getUsers() for user ID → name resolution (cached)
  • Use resolveChannel(nameOrId) for channel name/ID handling
  • Use formatTs(ts) for Slack timestamp → human date
  • Errors: console.error() + process.exit(1)
  • Output: console.log() with emoji prefixes

Auth

Session-based (xoxc- token + xoxd- cookie). Auto-extracted from Slack desktop app on macOS. Cache: ~/.local/slk/token-cache.json. Delete to force re-extract.

npm Publish Token

NPM_PUBLISH_TOKEN env var from ~/.local/keys/env.sh. Use .npmrc trick (create before publish, delete after).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
