In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing or maintaining the MCP server, its Express API, or its Svelte web interface.
Why use it?
It gives a coding agent the repository context and common commands needed to install, build, run, and test the project.

Instructions file for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: the file is CLAUDE.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code.

This is thijs-hakkenberg/mcp_todo's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on mcp_todo itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything mcp_todo configures →

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is │ ├── work/ → ../../tasks/{task-id}/.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03179 $0.03179
Opus 5 $0.01589 $0.01589
Sonnet 5 $0.00636 $0.00636
Haiku 4.5 $0.00318 $0.00318

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp_todo CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

Git-Based MCP Todo Server - A fully implemented Model Context Protocol server for managing todos with Git version control. The project includes:

  • Complete MCP server for Claude Desktop and Claude Code integration
  • Full-stack web-based Kanban board with Svelte 5 frontend (with full CRUD operations)
  • Express API server bridging web UI and MCP server
  • Comprehensive test coverage (~94% backend, 100% store tests - component tests excluded due to Svelte 5 runes limitation)

Development Commands

# Install dependencies
npm install # Backend dependencies
cd web && npm install # Frontend dependencies

# Build
npm run build # Build MCP server

# Run MCP server (for Claude Desktop/Code)
npm start # Start MCP server

# Run API server + Web UI
npm run dev:api # Start API server in watch mode
cd web && npm run dev # Start Vite dev server

# Or run both concurrently
npm run dev # Runs both API server and MCP server

# Run tests
npm test # All tests
npm run test:unit # Unit tests
npm run test:integration # Integration tests
npm run test:api # API server tests
cd web && npm test # Frontend tests

Architecture

The project has two main interfaces:

1. MCP Interface (Claude Desktop/Claude Code)

Claude Desktop ←→ MCP Server (stdio) ←→ TodoRepository ←→ GitManager ←→ Git Repo

Layers:

  1. MCP Server (src/index.ts, src/server/MCPServer.ts) - Handles MCP protocol via stdio
  2. TodoRepository (src/data/TodoRepository.ts) - Todo CRUD operations
  3. GitManager (src/git/GitManager.ts) - Git operations and commits
  4. ConflictResolver (src/git/ConflictResolver.ts) - Last-Write-Wins merge strategy
  5. SyncManager (src/git/SyncManager.ts) - Auto-sync with remote repository

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
