Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00563 $0.00563
Opus 5.5 $0.00225 $0.00225
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00113 $0.00113
Haiku 4.5 $0.00056 $0.00056

Security

Grade A, and why

GH-300 Teaching Content Rules scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Purpose

This repository supports the four-hour O'Reilly Live Learning course Pass Your GitHub Copilot Certification Exam, delivered September 24, 2026, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Central. Prioritize learner clarity, exam relevance, and practical outcomes.

Always Do

  • Write for mixed-skill learners: concise explanations, plain language, and concrete examples.
  • Keep content aligned to GH-300 learning goals without requiring explicit domain labels.
  • Favor enterprise scenarios (security, governance, testing, privacy, and policy).
  • Include hands-on practice steps that fit the lesson flow.
  • Ground exam scope in the August 7, 2026 GH-300 objectives. Verify current product behavior with GitHub Docs and client behavior with VS Code documentation.
  • Use account-available models and current client behavior instead of fixed model rosters or guessed UI labels.
  • Maintain four numbered segments from COURSE-PLAN.md, with breaks inside Segments 1-3 and the wrap-up inside Segment 4.
  • Use only the O'Reilly training identity and approved presentation template for course branding.
  • End teaching outputs with clear Next Steps:
    1. Practice task
    2. Deeper study topic
    3. Real-world application

Content Quality Standards

  • Explain why a practice matters, not only how to do it.
  • Use realistic business context over toy examples.
  • Prefer checklists, short sections, and scannable structure for live instruction.
  • When mentioning commands, include only the minimal safe commands required for the learning goal.
  • Ensure examples are technically correct and consistent with repository conventions.
  • Preserve each core activity's no-account route, observable success check, and cleanup instructions.
  • Repair incoming file and heading references whenever content moves, including references in presentation notes.
  • Differentiate visual cues with text, shape, or position; never require color alone to understand a diagram or result.

Avoid

  • Long theory blocks without actionable outcomes.
  • Outdated feature descriptions or deprecated workflows.
  • Certification trivia that is not tied to a practical skill.
  • Overly complex labs that cannot fit a short class segment.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
