timps AGENTS.md

A repository guide for TIMPS, a TypeScript monorepo—a code repository containing multiple related apps and packages. It documents the layout, build commands, tests, type checking, and agent entry points.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps agents work on the CLI, MCP server, VS Code extension, full server, and memory engine, including their build and test commands.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents consistent rules for navigating and checking a large multi-part codebase.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.24407 $0.24407
Opus 5 $0.12204 $0.12204
Sonnet 5 $0.04881 $0.04881
Haiku 4.5 $0.02441 $0.02441

Security

Grade A, and why

timps AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Runs shell commandslowCapability

Expected in a hook, worth knowing in a rule or an instructions file.

- **Scanner rejects on `eval`, `Function()`, `child_process`, undeclared network/fs access, oversized packages** — not just warnings

Repo layout

Monorepo workspace roots: packages/*, apps/*, timps-code, timps-mcp.

| Surface | Path | Package | Build | Test | Typecheck | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---| | CLI | timps-code/ | timps-code | tsc (ESM, NodeNext) | vitest (unified) | tsc --noEmit | | MCP server | timps-mcp/ | timps-mcp | tsup src/index.ts --format cjs --no-dts --out-dir dist | vitest (unified) | tsc --noEmit (4GB heap) | | VS Code ext | timps-vscode/ | timps-ai-coding-agent | npm run compile (tsc) | vitest (unified) | tsc --noEmit | | Full server | packages/server/ | @timps/server | tsc (CJS) | vitest (unified) | tsc --noEmit | | Memory engine | packages/memory-core/ | @timps/memory-core | tsup (CJS + dts) | vitest (unified) | tsc --noEmit |

  • npm run build — turbo run build (all packages; mobile/plugins/docs may need extra tooling).
  • npm run build:ci — CI-targeted build that excludes 10 packages (mobile, plugins, docs, timps-code, timps-mcp).
  • Build timps-code/timps-mcp individually: cd timps-code && npm run build.

TypeScript config drift

  • timps-code → ESM (module: NodeNext), .js extension in imports required.
  • timps-mcp → CJS, strict: false, no declarations.
  • packages/server → CJS, wide include.
  • packages/memory-core → CJS, vitest resolves .js imports automatically.

Agent entrypoints (timps-code)

  • CLI: src/bin/timps.ts (run via npm run dev or tsx src/bin/timps.ts).
  • Loop: src/core/app.tsAgentLoop.run()src/core/agent.ts.
  • Tool registry: src/tools/tools.ts exports ALL_TOOLS, getTool(), getToolDefinitions().
  • Providers: src/models/ — 6 adapters + OpenRouter routing (7 total, not "75+").
  • Swarm: src/swarm/ — 10 agent roles, DAG is local fan-out, not distributed.
  • TUI: src/ui/App.tsx (Ink/React 19).
  • MCP client: src/services/mcp/, auto-discovery at src/tools/mcpDiscovery.ts.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
