clickup-cli: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

clickup-cli CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from triptechtravel/clickup-cli. It costs 477 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for clickup-cli, a Go command-line program for managing ClickUp tasks, comments, sprints, and documents with Git and GitHub integration. They define build, test, documentation, code-generation, and repository rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Building, testing, linting, smoke-testing, documenting, and extending clickup-cli while following its generated-code and repository conventions.
Why use it?
They give an agent the project’s local rules so it runs the right commands and does not commit generated files, credentials, or private workspace details. They also explain where API code comes from.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00477 $0.00477
Opus 5.5 $0.00191 $0.00191
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00095 $0.00095
Haiku 4.5 $0.00048 $0.00048

Security

Grade A, and why

clickup-cli CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

clickup-cli

A Go command-line tool for ClickUp (tasks, comments, sprints, Docs) with git and GitHub integration. Public repo: no workspace ids, tokens or internal names in code, docs or tests. User docs are the Astro site in docs/ (published to GitHub Pages); the agent skill is skills/clickup-cli/.

Running things

  • make build / make install / make test (each runs code generation first).
  • make lint checks formatting and runs golangci-lint.
  • make smoke: round-trips the CLI against a real ClickUp workspace (scripts/smoke.sh, needs clickup auth login). BIN=./bin/clickup make smoke tests a local build.

House rules

  • Generate API code, don't hand-write it. The ClickUp V2 and V3 clients and wrappers are generated from the OpenAPI specs (make api-gen, pins in the Makefile, make api-update to re-pin). A new endpoint starts from the spec; an API bug starts by checking whether the spec changed. Hand-written code is only business logic on top: fuzzy matching, progressive search, @mentions, git integration, prompts.
  • Fetch artifacts, don't commit them. Specs and generated code are gitignored and produced on demand by Makefile targets (like protobuf/gRPC); CI generates before build and test. Committed copies go stale.
  • API changes are proven against the real API, not only mocks. Mocks confirm whatever shape you assumed: ClickUp reads order_by=updated&reverse=true as ascending, and a 100-row page can come back with 99 rows, and unit tests passed over both. Any change to request construction, pagination, ordering or decoding adds an assertion to scripts/smoke.sh that pins the behaviour it relies on (anchored to a resource the script creates), and make smoke passes before the work is done. The script has one trap cleanup EXIT: add teardown to cleanup, never a second trap (it would replace the first and leak tasks).
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
