Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Grade B, and why
scrapedo-mcp-server CLAUDE.md scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

.claude/, .codex/, .gemini/ hold keys, settings and other credentials a mod has no legitimate need for.

Project Overview
This is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that enables AI assistants like Claude Desktop to scrape websites using the Scrapedo API. Built with TypeScript and Node.js ES modules, it provides tools for web scraping (with/without JavaScript rendering), screenshots, proxy usage, and markdown conversion.
Essential Commands
Development
npm run build # Compile TypeScript to dist/
npm run dev # Development mode with hot reload (using tsx)
npm start # Run the compiled MCP server
Testing
npm test # Run quick test (examples/quick-test.js)
npm run test:jest # Run Jest test suite
Publishing
npm run prepare # Pre-publish build hook
npm run prepublishOnly # Build before publishing to npm
CLI Usage
The built CLI (dist/cli.js) provides initialization commands:
npx scrapedo-mcp-server init # Configure Claude Desktop/Codex/Gemini
npx scrapedo-mcp-server start # Start MCP server
npx scrapedo-mcp-server config # Show configuration status
Code Architecture
Entry Points
src/index.ts- MCP server that registers tools and handles requests via stdio transportsrc/cli.ts- CLI for initializing configuration files for Claude Desktop, Codex, and Gemini
Core Components
ScrapedoClient (src/scrapedo-client.ts)
The API client supports two modes:
- API Mode - Direct requests to
https://api.scrape.dowith token in query params - Proxy Mode - Requests through
proxy.scrape.do:8080with credentials in proxy auth
Key methods:
scrape(options, useProxy)- Main scraping methodgetUsageStats()- Fetch credit usage from APIcalculateCredits(params)- Estimate cost (1-30 credits depending on features)generateProxyConfig(params)- Build proxy URL for external use
Error handling distinguishes between:
- Rate limits (429) - retryable
- Auth errors (401) - not retryable
- Timeouts (ECONNABORTED) - retryable
- Target errors (404, 400) - not retryable
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

scrapedo-mcp-server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository umutc/scrapedo-mcp-server (0 stars, last pushed 10mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 2,121 tokens to every session, about $0.0106 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (reads agent configuration directories). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
