.github/instructions/ui.instructions.md

kendex ui.instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from vanillagreencom/kendex. It costs 275 tokens per session, scanned C, original, MIT.

Project instructions for maintaining the web interface of Kendex, including its generated bindings, Rust-to-UI boundaries, error handling, and component rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing Kendex web components, bindings, error displays, or the boundary between its Rust backend and UI.
Why use it?
They help prevent UI changes from duplicating backend logic, editing generated files, or mishandling command errors.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00275 $0.00275
Opus 5.5 $0.00110 $0.00110
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00055 $0.00055
Haiku 4.5 $0.00028 $0.00028

Security

Grade C, and why

kendex ui.instructions.md scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 16d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Hidden instructionshighPrompt injection

Directives inside HTML comments, invisible characters or bidirectional overrides are read by the model and not by the person reviewing the file.

What it actually says

ui/src/bindings.ts is generated by crates/app/tests/bindings.rs from crates/app/src/lib.rs::specta_builder and byte-checked there; a command's shape or its refusal type is a crates/app finding, not a UI one, and the file is never edited by hand. ui/src/components/ui/** is vendored shadcn/ui; report nothing there. @tauri-apps is imported by ui/src/bindings.ts and nowhere else, and a raw color literal under ui/src/ warns in tools/guard; leave both to the guard. A Result-returning command answers a refusal and a transport failure alike as { status: "error" }, read through ui/src/lib/refusal.ts; a component reading the error's fields is a finding. Domain logic and types live in Rust; a UI component that decides a domain question is a finding.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
