component-library-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

component-library-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from vasyl-bilous/component-library-mcp. It costs 4,626 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a server that scans React and Vue projects to describe their reusable interface components, such as properties, events, imports, and usage.

In plain words
What is it for?
Finding component definitions, expanding their TypeScript types, resolving imports, and checking how components are used before writing interface code.
Why use it?
They help a coding agent avoid creating duplicate components, using incorrect settings, or breaking existing interface patterns.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.04626 $0.04626
Opus 5 $0.02313 $0.02313
Sonnet 5 $0.00925 $0.00925
Haiku 4.5 $0.00463 $0.00463

Security

Grade A, and why

component-library-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Component Library MCP Server

Overview

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that scans React and Vue projects, extracts component metadata (props, slots, events, imports, usage), and exposes it to AI coding agents via structured tools. Solves three recurring problems for AI agents: duplicate components, wrong prop APIs, and inconsistent UI patterns. The agent queries this MCP before writing any UI code — sees the full component library, correct prop signatures, and real usage examples from the codebase.

Tech Stack

  • Runtime: Node.js ≥ 20
  • Language: TypeScript 5.4+ (strict mode)
  • MCP SDK: @modelcontextprotocol/sdk (latest)
  • Transport: stdio (JSON-RPC over stdin/stdout)
  • AST Parsing:
    • React (TSX/JSX): @typescript-eslint/typescript-estree ^8.0.0
    • Vue (SFC): @vue/compiler-sfc ^3.5.0
    • Vue TSX: @typescript-eslint/typescript-estree
  • TypeScript type resolution: typescript (programmatic compiler API) for full recursive type expansion across files
  • File discovery: fast-glob ^3.3.0
  • Import graph: custom resolver built on Node.js path + fs + package.json paths/exports (NOT madge — avoids heavy dep tree)
  • Validation: zod ^3.23.0 for tool input schemas
  • Logging: custom stderr logger (stdio-safe — stdout is reserved for JSON-RPC)
  • Testing: vitest ^1.5.0 (unit + performance benchmarks)
  • Package manager: pnpm
  • Build: tscdist/

Architecture

Layered, single-process Node server. Tool call flow:

Claude Code (stdio) → MCP server

                   Tool handler (src/tools/*)
                        ↓
                   Cache layer (src/cache)
                     ↓ ↓ (miss / stale)
                  return     Scanner (src/scanner)
                                  ↓
                              Parsers (src/parsers) → AST
                                  ↓
                              Extractors (props, slots, events, JSDoc)
                                  ↓
                              Import resolver → graph
                                  ↓

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
