sanity-copilot-eve-template: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

sanity-copilot-eve-template AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from vercel-labs/sanity-copilot-eve-template. It costs 1,592 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository guidance for a Slack-based Sanity content-management copilot built with the Eve agent framework. It explains the project structure, commands, integrations, and coding conventions for an agent that works with Sanity, Notion, and Vercel Blob.

In plain words
What is it for?
Setting up, checking, building, and deploying the project, and developing its Slack workflows, Sanity queries and schemas, Notion document handling, and file storage.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents the context needed to change the right files, use the project's commands, and respect how content and files move between connected services.

About the project

Sanity Copilot eve Template is a Slack-based assistant that lets team members query and edit Sanity content, inspect schemas, manage drafts and releases, and send long-form drafts to Notion. Teams use it to work on Sanity projects through Slack with each person's permissions and approval controls for sensitive actions. The catalogue add-ons support this agent workflow.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01592 $0.01592
Opus 5 $0.00796 $0.00796
Sonnet 5 $0.00318 $0.00318
Haiku 4.5 $0.00159 $0.00159

Security

Grade A, and why

sanity-copilot-eve-template AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project overview

A Slack-based Sanity copilot built on the eve agent framework. Users @mention it in Slack; it manages their Sanity project through the Sanity MCP connection (GROQ queries, schemas, drafts, releases), pulls source material from and drafts into Notion (user-scoped OAuth via Vercel Connect), and stores files in Vercel Blob. Its workflow lives in agent/instructions.md.

The whole agent is defined under agent/. eve discovers capabilities from the filesystem. See ARCHITECTURE.md for the component map, data flow, and boundaries.

Setup & commands

pnpm install # install dependencies (Node 24.x)
pnpm dev # eve dev — local TUI; run /model once to link a model provider
pnpm typecheck # tsc (TypeScript, no emit)
pnpm check # ultracite (Biome) lint + format check
pnpm fix # ultracite (Biome) auto-fix
pnpm build # eve build
eve deploy # deploy to Vercel production (use this, not raw `vercel deploy`)
npx eve info # print the discovered surface + discovery diagnostics
pnpm validate # check + typecheck + eve info in one command

There is no unit-test suite. Verify changes with pnpm validate (lint, typecheck, and discovery diagnostics must all report 0 errors / 0 warnings), then exercise the agent in the pnpm dev TUI.

eve conventions

  • Read the relevant guide in node_modules/eve/docs/ before writing code. Don't invent framework APIs; confirm them against the docs.
  • Identity comes from the filesystem, never a name field. A tool at agent/tools/upload_asset.ts is the tool upload_asset; a connection at agent/connections/sanity.ts registers as sanity.
  • Authored slots: agent/agent.ts (model), agent/instructions.md (system prompt), agent/tools/*.ts (defineTool), agent/connections/*.ts, agent/channels/*.ts, agent/skills/<name>/SKILL.md, agent/subagents/<id>/agent.ts (defineAgent), agent/sandbox.ts. This repo also has agent/subagents/<id>/skills/ and agent/subagents/reviewer/sandbox.ts: subagent sandboxes don't inherit from the root, and the reviewer needs one to read its skill's reference files.
  • Tools run in the app runtime (full process.env), one default export per file. Gate destructive tools with approval from eve/tools/approval. Connections accept the same approval field: both sanity.ts and notion.ts pass a policy that substring-matches the qualified tool name against an APPROVAL_REQUIRED_TOOLS list. Sanity gates patch_documents, publish_documents, unpublish_documents, discard_drafts, version_discard, update_dataset, deploy_schema, and deploy_studio; Notion gates update-pages, move-pages, update-data-source, and update-view (creation is ungated).
  • Skills are load-on-demand. A packaged skill (<name>/SKILL.md) requires description frontmatter; that description is the routing hint. Skills here: sanity-best-practices, content-modeling-best-practices, portable-text-conversion, portable-text-serialization, seo-aeo-best-practices, content-experimentation-best-practices, and writing-quality.
  • Subagents are declared under agent/subagents/<id>/agent.ts (defineAgent, required description — the routing hint). The directory name is the identity and the lowered tool name (no namespace; it must not collide with a tool name). A declared subagent runs in a fresh child session and inherits nothing from the root (no skills, connections, tools, or sandbox), so the caller passes everything it needs in the message. Here: researcher and reviewer. The reviewer carries its own copy of the writing-quality skill under agent/subagents/reviewer/skills/ plus its own sandbox.ts. The copy intentionally diverges from the root skill where the root's references other root-only skills (seo-aeo-best-practices); when editing either copy, keep them in step except for that.
  • After editing, check LSP diagnostics / pnpm typecheck and fix type errors before moving on.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
