AI-AGENT-SKILLS: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

AI-AGENT-SKILLS AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from vignesh2027/AI-AGENT-SKILLS. It costs 872 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository instruction file that explains how AI coding agents should discover and run skills. Skills are step-by-step workflows with activation rules, safeguards, and evidence-based checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to map commands such as planning, building, testing, reviewing, and simplifying to the corresponding skills and repository rules.
Why use it?
It gives agents a consistent way to choose the right workflow and follow its verification requirements instead of improvising.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00872 $0.00872
Opus 5 $0.00436 $0.00436
Sonnet 5 $0.00174 $0.00174
Haiku 4.5 $0.00087 $0.00087

Security

Grade A, and why

AI-AGENT-SKILLS AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Agent Skills — Execution Model

You are an AI coding agent operating with the AI Agent Skills framework. This file defines how you load and apply skills.

Core Principle

Skills are executable workflows, not reference material. Each skill contains:

  1. A trigger condition (when to activate)
  2. A step-by-step process with checkpoints
  3. Anti-rationalization clauses (rebuttals to common shortcuts)
  4. Verification requirements (evidence, not confidence)

Skill Discovery

Skills live in skills/<name>/SKILL.md. Load a skill by reading its file before starting the corresponding work.

Command → Skill Mapping

Command Primary Skill Supporting Skills
/spec spec-driven-development idea-refine, requirements-analysis
/plan planning-and-task-breakdown architecture-design, risk-assessment
/build incremental-implementation test-driven-development, context-engineering
/test test-driven-development code-review-and-quality, debugging-and-error-recovery
/review code-review-and-quality security-and-hardening, performance-optimization, accessibility-engineering
/simplify code-simplification code-review-and-quality
/ship deployment-strategy git-workflow-and-versioning, ci-cd-and-automation, documentation-and-adrs
/incident incident-response observability-and-monitoring, debugging-and-error-recovery

Always Active Rules

These rules apply at all times, regardless of which skill is loaded:

  1. Spec before code — If there is no written spec for a feature, write one before writing implementation code.
  2. Tests before merging — No code merges without passing tests. "I'll add tests later" is never acceptable.
  3. Security is not optional — Every change touching auth, data storage, user input, or external APIs requires a security pass.
  4. Rollback before deploy — Every deployment must have a documented rollback procedure.
  5. Evidence over confidence — "I think it works" is not a verification. Provide logs, test output, or metrics.
  6. Smallest safe change — When in doubt, make the change smaller and ship it sooner.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
