Figma-to-Code_MCP: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

Figma-to-Code_MCP CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from vincegx/Figma-to-Code_MCP. It costs 3,321 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a tool that turns Figma designs into React and Tailwind components. Figma is a design application, while React and Tailwind are tools for building web interfaces.

In plain words
What is it for?
Starting the Docker environment, analyzing Figma URLs, reprocessing exports, merging responsive screens, running development servers, linting, and building the project.
Why use it?
They give an agent the project overview, commands, container workflow, and checks needed to work on the tool correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03321 $0.03321
Opus 5 $0.01661 $0.01661
Sonnet 5 $0.00664 $0.00664
Haiku 4.5 $0.00332 $0.00332

Security

Grade A, and why

Figma-to-Code_MCP CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Project Overview

MCP Figma to Code is a tool that transforms Figma designs into pixel-perfect React + Tailwind components using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It features a 4-phase pipeline with AST transformations, visual validation, and a modern shadcn/ui dashboard.

Essential Commands

Docker Environment (Primary)

# Start the application (hot reload enabled)
docker-compose up --build

# Execute commands in container
docker exec mcp-figma-v1 <command>

# View logs
docker logs -f mcp-figma-v1

# Stop containers
docker-compose down

CLI Tools (Execute in Docker)

# Analyze a Figma URL
./cli/figma-analyze "https://www.figma.com/design/FILE_ID?node-id=X-Y"

# Reprocess existing export (no MCP calls)
./cli/figma-reprocess <export-id>
./cli/figma-reprocess <export-id> --clean

# Merge responsive screens
./cli/figma-merge <desktop-id> <tablet-id> <mobile-id>

Development Commands

# Frontend: Vite dev server (hot reload)
npm run dev

# Backend: Express API server
npm run server

# Linting
npm run lint

# Build production bundle
npm run build

Reprocessing Workflow

When you need to regenerate files without making new MCP calls (useful for testing transform changes):

# Find export ID
ls src/generated/export_figma/

# Reprocess (runs Phases 2-4: AST transforms, screenshot, reports)
./cli/figma-reprocess node-{id}-{timestamp}
./cli/figma-reprocess node-{id}-{timestamp} --clean

Architecture

4-Phase Pipeline

Phase 1: MCP Extraction

  • Connects to Figma Desktop via MCP (port 3845)
  • Extracts metadata.xml, parent-wrapper.tsx, chunks
  • Saves design tokens and screenshot
  • Entry point: scripts/figma-cli.js

Phase 2: AST Processing

  • Organizes images: scripts/post-processing/organize-images.js
  • Processes each chunk through pipeline: scripts/pipeline.js
  • Applies 14 transforms in priority order (10-100)
  • Consolidates chunks → Component-fixed.tsx/css
  • Generates clean version → Component-clean.tsx/css
  • Optimizes with scripts/post-processing/sync-optimizer.js

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
