Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00890 $0.00890
Opus 5 $0.00445 $0.00445
Sonnet 5 $0.00178 $0.00178
Haiku 4.5 $0.00089 $0.00089

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-code-monitor CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

Overview

A real-time terminal application that monitors Claude service connection status and usage statistics, providing clear visual display of service status, conversation information, and historical usage trends.

Architecture

  • Main Program: claude_monitor.py - Contains NetworkMonitor class
  • Launch Scripts:
    • start_monitor.sh - Basic shell launcher
    • claude_monitor.command - macOS launcher with Node environment setup
  • macOS App: Network Monitor.app - AppleScript wrapper (currently points to wrong path: network_monitor.py instead of claude_monitor.py)

Commands

Run Monitor

# Direct execution
python3 claude_monitor.py

# Using shell script
./start_monitor.sh

# macOS double-click (auto-configures Node environment)
open claude_monitor.command

Dependencies

pip3 install -r requirements.txt

Test ccusage Commands

# Token-based usage calculation
npx ccusage@latest blocks --mode calculate

# Daily statistics
npx ccusage@latest daily --mode calculate

# Update ccusage (used for auto-recovery)
npx --yes ccusage@latest --version

Core Features

Network Monitoring

  • Pings google.com for latency testing
  • HTTP request speed testing
  • Real-time connection status indicators (🟢/🔴)
  • macOS desktop notifications on connection state changes

Claude Usage Monitoring

  • Uses ccusage blocks --mode calculate for token-based statistics
  • Displays active/completed conversation status
  • Calculates 5-hour conversation reset timer
  • Real-time remaining time display
  • Token usage and cost tracking (uses LiteLLM pricing data)

Historical Billing

  • Primary: ccusage daily --mode calculate for daily cost analysis
  • Fallback: ccusage blocks aggregation if daily fails
  • 7-day trend visualization with colored bars (red/yellow/green)
  • Cumulative total and daily average costs
  • All costs calculated from actual tokens, not cached values

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
