skills-check AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from voodootikigod/skills-check. It costs 977 tokens per session, scanned C, original, MIT.

Project instructions for using GitHub Issues, GitHub's built-in system for tracking bugs and tasks, together with safe command-line practices.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when listing, claiming, editing, or closing repository issues and when running non-interactive file, copy, move, remove, or secure-copy commands.
Why use it?
They make issue ownership and completion visible and help prevent shell commands from stopping for confirmation prompts.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00977 $0.00977
Opus 5 $0.00489 $0.00489
Sonnet 5 $0.00195 $0.00195
Haiku 4.5 $0.00098 $0.00098

Security

Grade C, and why

skills-check AGENTS.md scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Recursive force deletehighDestructive command

rm -rf with a variable or a broad path is one typo away from removing the wrong tree.

rm -rf directory # NOT: rm -r directory

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 117 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Agent Instructions

This project uses GitHub Issues for issue tracking. Use the GitHub CLI (gh) to manage issues and track your work.

Quick Reference

gh issue list # List open issues for the repository
gh issue view <number> # View details of a specific issue
gh issue edit <number> --assignee "@me" # Claim / assign an issue to yourself
gh issue close <number> # Complete work and close an issue

Non-Interactive Shell Commands

ALWAYS use non-interactive flags with file operations to avoid hanging on confirmation prompts.

Shell commands like cp, mv, and rm may be aliased to include -i (interactive) mode on some systems, causing the agent to hang indefinitely waiting for y/n input.

Use these forms instead:

# Force overwrite without prompting
cp -f source dest # NOT: cp source dest
mv -f source dest # NOT: mv source dest
rm -f file # NOT: rm file

# For recursive operations
rm -rf directory # NOT: rm -r directory
cp -rf source dest # NOT: cp -r source dest

Other commands that may prompt:

  • scp - use -o BatchMode=yes for non-interactive
  • ssh - use -o BatchMode=yes to fail instead of prompting
  • apt-get - use -y flag
  • brew - use HOMEBREW_NO_AUTO_UPDATE=1 env var

Issue Tracking with GitHub Issues

IMPORTANT: This project uses GitHub Issues for ALL issue tracking. Do NOT use markdown TODOs, task lists, or other tracking methods.

Quick Start

Check for ready work:

gh issue list --label "spec-alignment"

Create new issues:

gh issue create --title "Issue title" --body "Detailed context" --label "bug|feature|task" --label "priority: high|medium|low"

Claim and update:

gh issue edit <number> --assignee "@me"

Complete work:

gh issue close <number>

Issue Labels & Types

We use GitHub labels to categorize work:

  • bug - Something broken
  • feature - New functionality
  • task - Work item (tests, docs, refactoring)
  • epic - Large feature with subtasks
  • spec-alignment - Gaps with Agent Skills specification

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
