Open-Minions: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

Open-Minions AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from wassemgtk/Open-Minions. It costs 253 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project-specific instructions for Open-Minions, a Python project that uses small automated agents called minions. They define coding practices, project folders, configuration, and checks to follow.

In plain words
What is it for?
Making focused changes in the project, editing its Python package and integrations, handling configuration, and running Ruff, a Python linting and formatting tool.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the repository’s local rules so changes fit the existing code and layout. They also help catch problems by requiring linting before work is considered complete.

This is wassemgtk/Open-Minions's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on Open-Minions itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything Open-Minions configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00253 $0.00253
Opus 5.5 $0.00101 $0.00101
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00051 $0.00051
Haiku 4.5 $0.00025 $0.00025

Security

Grade A, and why

Open-Minions AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Agent Rules for Open Minions

These rules are consumed by minions (and other coding agents like Cursor/Claude). Rules are conditionally applied based on the subdirectory being edited.

General Guidelines

  • Make minimal, focused changes. Prefer small PRs.
  • Follow existing code style and patterns in the codebase.
  • Run linters before considering the task complete.
  • When adding dependencies, prefer the project's existing stack (see pyproject.toml).

Python

  • Use type hints and from __future__ import annotations where applicable.
  • Prefer pathlib.Path over string paths.
  • Use ruff for linting; format with ruff format.
  • Use os.environ.get() for environment variables, never __import__("os").

Project Layout

  • src/minions/ - Core minion package
  • src/minions/tools/ - Deterministic tools (git, lint, PR)
  • src/minions/integrations/ - Slack bot, GitHub client
  • src/minions/display.py - Rich display layer
  • src/minions/web.py - FastAPI web UI and GitHub webhook handler
  • Config: .minions/config.yaml
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
