qwen3-mcp-server: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

qwen3-mcp-server AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from WOODSEE-DIGI/qwen3-mcp-server. It costs 1,447 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for a codebase that runs Qwen3-30B, an AI language model, through an MCP server. MCP is a standard way for applications and AI tools to call shared functions and resources.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when modifying or reviewing the Qwen3 MCP server, especially its startup code, model interfaces, configuration, tools, prompts, and resources.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents a map of the project's structure, configuration, server, and model connection patterns.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Fable 5.1 $0.01447 $0.01447
Opus 5 $0.00724 $0.00724

Security

Grade A, and why

qwen3-mcp-server AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

AGENTS.md

This file provides guidance to WARP (warp.dev) when working with code in this repository.

Project Overview

This is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides standardized access to the Qwen3-30B model for integration with Warp and other MCP-compatible clients. The server supports three hosting methods: Ollama (recommended), local Transformers, and HTTP API endpoints.

Architecture

Core Components

  • src/main.py: Entry point with CLI argument parsing and server lifecycle management
  • src/server.py: MCP server implementation with tools, prompts, and resources
  • src/model_interface.py: Abstract model interface with concrete implementations for different hosting methods
  • src/config.py: Configuration management using Pydantic with environment variable support

Model Interface Pattern

The codebase uses a factory pattern in create_model_interface() to instantiate the appropriate model interface:

  • OllamaInterface: Uses HTTP client to communicate with Ollama API
  • TransformersInterface: Direct model loading with PyTorch/Transformers
  • HTTPInterface: Generic HTTP API integration

Each interface implements async methods: generate(), generate_stream(), health_check(), and get_model_info().

Development Commands

Setup and Installation

# Initial setup (runs all setup steps)
./setup.sh

# Manual setup
python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: venv\Scripts\activate
pip install -r requirements.txt
cp .env.example .env

Running the Server

# Default (stdio transport with Ollama)
python src/main.py

# With specific configuration
python src/main.py --config config/default.json

# With different hosting method
python src/main.py --model-method transformers --model-path /path/to/model

# With debug logging
python src/main.py --log-level DEBUG

# HTTP transport (not yet implemented)
python src/main.py --transport http --host 0.0.0.0 --port 8080

Testing

# Run comprehensive test suite
python examples/test_server.py

# Test configuration loading
python -c "
import sys; sys.path.insert(0, 'src')
from config import AppConfig
config = AppConfig.load_from_env()
print(f'Config: {config.model.hosting_method}')"

# Test model interface directly
python -c "
import sys, asyncio; sys.path.insert(0, 'src')
from config import AppConfig
from model_interface import create_model_interface, GenerationRequest
async def test():
    config = AppConfig.load_from_env()
    interface = create_model_interface(config.model)
    health = await interface.health_check()
    print(f'Health: {health}')
asyncio.run(test())"

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

qwen3-mcp-server AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository WOODSEE-DIGI/qwen3-mcp-server (0 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 1,447 tokens to every session, about $0.0072 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
