xete-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

xete-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from xetenet/xete-mcp. It costs 816 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of operating instructions for coding agents working in Xete repositories, including session checklists, protected file paths, specifications, security reviews, and escalation rules. A DDR is a doubt-driven review: a documented review required before certain protected changes can be committed.

In plain words
What is it for?
Following Xete repository rules, preparing specifications, reviewing changes to protected paths, handling security-sensitive work, and knowing when to stop and ask a human.
Why use it?
It prevents agents from coding before the required design work, bypassing review gates, or committing changes to sensitive paths without the required evidence.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00816 $0.00816
Opus 5 $0.00408 $0.00408
Sonnet 5 $0.00163 $0.00163
Haiku 4.5 $0.00082 $0.00082

Security

Grade A, and why

xete-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Xete Agent Operating Rules

These rules bind every agent session (Claude Code, Remote Control, owl-alpha, or any other model) working in Xete repositories. They are not suggestions. The pre-commit hook enforces the review gate mechanically; the rest are enforced by you, the agent, refusing to skip them.

Hard rules

  1. No code before spec for (a) any work touching protected paths and (b) any work handed between people or agent sessions. Use skills/spec-and-plan/SKILL.md. Exploratory work on a feature branch that stays in one head and off protected paths needs no spec — but the moment it's handed off or aimed at a protected path, write the spec before continuing.

  2. No contract-path commit without a DDR. Any change under a protected path (see .githooks/protected-paths) requires a completed doubt-driven review (skills/doubt-driven-review/SKILL.md) with a staged reviews/DDR-*.md carrying Verdict: SHIP. The hook will block you; do not use --no-verify unless the human explicitly authorizes it in the current session, and record that authorization in the DDR.

  3. Security gates run inside the DDR for any crypto, key-handling, or on-chain change. Use skills/solana-security-hardening/SKILL.md. Mark any unresolved item OPEN-GATE — the hook blocks commits containing open gates. Do not delete an OPEN-GATE marker; resolve it or escalate to the human.

  4. Every commit follows git discipline (skills/git-discipline/SKILL.md): atomic, green, ~100 lines, spec-referenced. Run the session start ritual before your first change.

  5. Fresh-context doubt is real, not simulated. When the DDR calls for adversarial review, spawn a subagent or instruct the human to open a fresh session. Reviewing your own reasoning inside the same context does not count and must be recorded as self-review-only in the DDR, which downgrades the verdict to BLOCK for contract paths.

  6. The agent runs the gates; the human reads verdicts. Writing the spec, running the DDR loop, spawning the doubt subagent, filling the security checklist, and authoring reviews/DDR-*.md are all agent work, done without asking permission. The human's involvement is reading the finished DDR's doubts and verdict — not producing paperwork. If a gate turns a 10-minute task into an hour of ceremony for a non-contract change, the protected-paths patterns are miscalibrated: flag it to the human with a proposed pattern fix rather than suffering silently.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
