diaphora-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

diaphora-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from xTeardx/diaphora-mcp. It costs 559 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a local MCP server that exports and compares Diaphora databases. Diaphora is a reverse-engineering tool used to compare compiled programs and match corresponding functions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when exporting IDA databases, comparing program versions, mapping functions, analyzing call graphs, ranking matches, and producing security or patch reports.
Why use it?
They clarify which files and database types the tools expect, helping prevent invalid inputs and keeping analysis consistent.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00559 $0.00559
Opus 5 $0.00280 $0.00280
Sonnet 5 $0.00112 $0.00112
Haiku 4.5 $0.00056 $0.00056

Security

Grade A, and why

diaphora-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Diaphora MCP — Claude Code compatibility notes

The canonical repository instructions are in AGENTS.md. This file exists so Claude Code discovers the same project rules without maintaining a second architecture document.

Project role

This repository contains a local stdio MCP server for:

  • exporting .i64/.idb databases through Diaphora;
  • comparing official Diaphora SQLite exports;
  • matching functions across rebased binaries;
  • analyzing call graphs, rankings, security signals, and patch reports.

Source map

  • diaphora_mcp_server.py: stdio entry point.
  • diaphora_mcp/: tool registration and implementation.
  • diaphora_mcp/core/export.py: auto/headless/gui export modes and batch pipeline.
  • diaphora_mcp/core/mapping.py: old/new function address mapping.
  • diaphora_mcp/core/analysis.py: matching and function comparison.
  • diaphora_mcp/core/graph.py: mapped call-graph tools.
  • _diaphora_headless.py: IDA headless wrapper.
  • diaphora_gui_listener.py: optional legacy XML-RPC GUI fallback.
  • tests/: synthetic regression tests.

Non-negotiable data rules

  1. .i64/.idb is an IDA database, not a results SQLite file.
  2. Results tools accept generated .diaphora.sqlite and .diaphora files.
  3. batch_export_and_diff uses export_mode="headless".
  4. When old/new bases differ, pass match_results_path to address-aware tools.
  5. Never infer cross-version identity from equal addresses alone.
  6. Keep IDBs, binaries, exports, logs, and generated artifacts out of commits.

Large database defaults

  • Start with use_decompiler=false.
  • For large inputs, use summaries_only=true.
  • Increase the MCP client timeout for long exports.
  • Use ida-pro-mcp/idalib-mcp for detailed address-level inspection after matching.

Required checks before changes

git status --short
python -m pytest -q
python -m compileall -q .
git diff --check

For behavior changes, add a regression test first. Preserve the explicit export-mode contract, output-root validation, schema validation, cancellation, and old/new mapping behavior. Do not modify an upstream ida_mcp.py manually.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
