yantrikdb-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

yantrikdb-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from yantrikos/yantrikdb-mcp. It costs 410 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for developing and running a server that gives AI coding tools persistent, searchable memory across sessions. It explains setup, supported Python versions, tests, and local server commands.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when contributing to the yantrikdb-mcp project, installing its development environment, running its tests, starting the server, or preparing a pull request.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents the project-specific rules needed to work safely in that repository. It also explains which checks to run before opening a pull request.

This is yantrikos/yantrikdb-mcp's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on yantrikdb-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything yantrikdb-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00410 $0.00410
Opus 5.5 $0.00164 $0.00164
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00082 $0.00082
Haiku 4.5 $0.00041 $0.00041

Security

Grade A, and why

yantrikdb-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

AGENTS.md

Guidance for AI coding agents working in this repository.

What this is

An MCP server giving MCP-compatible AI agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and others) persistent, structured, queryable memory across sessions, backed by the YantrikDB Rust engine. MIT license; the engine dependency is Apache-2.0.

Setup

Use Python 3.10 through 3.13 (the yantrikdb engine ships native wheels for those versions; 3.14 may not install yet).

python3.12 -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate # Windows: .venv\Scripts\activate
python -m pip install -U pip
pip install -e ".[dev]"

This installs the server, its runtime dependencies, and pytest.

Run tests

pytest

Only tests/ is collected by default (see pyproject.toml). test_v14.py at the repo root is a heavier integration check against the engine — run it explicitly with pip install -e ".[torch]" first.

Run the server locally

yantrikdb-mcp --help
yantrikdb-mcp --version

Stdio mode (the default, used by Cursor/Claude Code) needs no extra flags.

Before opening a PR

  1. Branch from main.
  2. If you add behavior, add or extend a test in tests/. Doc-only changes don't need one.
  3. Open the PR against yantrikos/yantrikdb-mcp with a short description of the change.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
