mysql-mcp-webui: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

mysql-mcp-webui CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from yashagldit/mysql-mcp-webui. It costs 4,354 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for a TypeScript application that provides an MCP server for MySQL and a React web interface for managing database connections. MySQL is a relational database, and React is a library for building web interfaces.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building the client or server, running both development servers, starting the application in HTTP or standard input/output mode, or working with its database tools and connection-management interface.
Why use it?
It tells the agent how this two-part project is structured and which commands build, run, and develop each part.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.04354 $0.04354
Opus 5 $0.02177 $0.02177
Sonnet 5 $0.00871 $0.00871
Haiku 4.5 $0.00435 $0.00435

Security

Grade A, and why

mysql-mcp-webui CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

MySQL MCP WebUI is a dual-purpose system that implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enable Claude AI to interact with MySQL databases while providing a React-based web UI for configuration management. The project has two distinct but interconnected functionalities:

  1. MCP Server: Exposes four tools (mysql_query, list_databases, switch_database, add_connection) for Claude to interact with MySQL, with optional TOON format for token-efficient responses
  2. Web UI: React application for managing connections, databases, permissions, and API keys

Commands

Building

# Build both client and server (client builds first, then server)
npm run build

# Build server only
npm run build:server

# Build client only
npm run build:client

Development

# Run both server and client in development mode
npm run dev

# Run server only (with hot reload)
npm run dev:server

# Run client only (Vite dev server)
npm run dev:client

Running

# Start in HTTP mode (default, port 9274)
npm run start:http

# Start in stdio mode (for Claude Desktop direct integration)
npm run start:stdio

# Custom configurations
TRANSPORT=http HTTP_PORT=3001 node server/dist/index.js
NODE_ENV=production TRANSPORT=http HTTP_PORT=3003 node server/dist/index.js

Architecture

Workspace Structure

This is a monorepo with npm workspaces:

  • /server - Node.js/TypeScript backend
  • /client - React/TypeScript frontend
  • /data - SQLite database for configuration storage

Critical Architecture Patterns

1. Singleton Database Managers

All data access flows through singleton instances:

  • getDatabaseManager() - SQLite config database access (replaced ConfigManager in v2.0)
  • getConnectionManager() - MySQL connection pooling with lazy initialization and in-memory active state
  • getSessionManager() - HTTP session tracking for multi-instance support (v3.0)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
