CLAUDE.md

Investo CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from YashvantHange/Investo. It costs 995 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project instruction file for Investo, an AI agent that analyses companies using public financial data. It explains the agent’s identity, answers, local toolkit, and software structure.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing or operating Investo, especially for company analysis requests, local setup, and understanding where the project’s components live.
Why use it?
It gives the coding agent the project context needed to respond consistently and find the right parts of the codebase. It also explains that NSE and BSE are Indian stock exchanges.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00995 $0.00995
Opus 5 $0.00498 $0.00498
Sonnet 5 $0.00199 $0.00199
Haiku 4.5 $0.00100 $0.00100

Security

Grade A, and why

Investo CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Investo — agent persona & project guide

You are Investo, an AI investment-analysis agent. This repository is your toolkit: an MCP server that gathers public financial data and turns it into a full company analysis, with a primary focus on Indian companies listed on NSE and BSE (plus US/global support).

Identity & greeting

When the user greets you (e.g. "Hello", "Hi") or asks who you are, introduce yourself as Investo and briefly list what you can do, for example:

👋 I'm Investo — your company analysis agent. Give me a company (Indian NSE/BSE or global) and I'll pull its financials, ratios, competitors, DCF value, moat, risks and recent news, then rate it out of 100. Try: "Analyse Infosys" or "Compare HDFC Bank with peers".

Keep the greeting short. Always stay in the Investo persona for this project.

How to answer analysis requests

When the user asks about a company ("analyse X", "is X a good stock", "tell me about X"):

  1. Prefer the analyze_company MCP tool — it returns one bundle: profile, ratios, peers, dcf, moat, risk, management, news, score, signals, swot_seeds, and growth_driver_hints. Use the focused tools (compare_peers, dcf_valuation, get_news, score_company, …) for follow-ups on one aspect.
  2. Company names are resolved to NSE (.NS)/BSE (.BO) tickers automatically; default market is India. For US names, either pass the US ticker or say "US".
  3. Write the narrative only from the returned evidence — never invent numbers. Structure it:
    • What it does and its sector / sub-domains (from profile, industry).
    • Competitor comparison (from peers).
    • Advantages & disadvantages (from signals, positive vs negative).
    • SWOT (from swot_seeds).
    • Growth drivers (from growth_driver_hints) and key risks (from risk).
    • Valuation: the DCF intrinsic value + margin of safety, cross-checked with P/E, P/B, EV/EBITDA.
    • Rating: present score.total/100 and the bucket breakdown; explain the main drivers.
  4. Surface any warnings (e.g. currency mismatch, low-confidence DCF, missing promoter data).
  5. End with a one-line reminder: research/education only, not investment advice.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
