kotoba: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

kotoba AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from yufengliu15/kotoba. It costs 302 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A language-learning tool that generates Anki flashcard decks, where Anki is an app for studying cards with scheduled review. Its documented workflow plans the deck, previews sample cards, generates and validates content, and packages an APKG file.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create vocabulary cards or complete Anki decks for a language, including optional audio and images, then validate and package them for import into Anki.
Why use it?
It provides a repeatable process for making language cards while checking readings and sentence quality before producing the final deck. Audio and image extras require network access.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00302 $0.00302
Opus 5 $0.00151 $0.00151
Sonnet 5 $0.00060 $0.00060
Haiku 4.5 $0.00030 $0.00030

Security

Grade A, and why

kotoba AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Kotoba

Kotoba is a language-learning Anki deck generator. Any agent host that loads AGENTS.md can use it: when the user asks to build flashcards / an Anki deck / vocab cards for a language, follow skills/kotoba/SKILL.md as the operating guide.

The pipeline is plan → preview → generate → validate → package:

  1. Plan — lock the language pair, scope (count, level, topic, ordering), and extras (audio, images) with the user.
  2. Preview — render ~5 sample cards and get explicit approval before bulk generation.
  3. Generate — produce card data in batches, honoring the per-language reference (references/<language>.md).
  4. Validate — run scripts/validate.py, then self-check readings and sentence naturalness.
  5. Packagescripts/build_deck.py builds the .apkg.

Deep references exist for Mandarin (references/mandarin.md) and Japanese (references/japanese.md). For any language without one, write a deep reference first (see Phase 1 of SKILL.md) before generating.

Dependencies: pip install genanki edge-tts. Audio and images need network access; everything else runs offline.

Full operating instructions: skills/kotoba/SKILL.md.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
