GPTPortal: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

GPTPortal AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from Zaki-1052/GPTPortal. It costs 721 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for an AI coding agent working on a Node.js web server. It explains the code layout, commands, coding rules, and testing guidance.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing, testing, or changing the server, client files, model catalog, provider routing, or Docker setup.
Why use it?
It gives the agent the project's working rules and reduces mistakes caused by guessing how the repository is organized or tested.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00721 $0.00721
Opus 5 $0.00360 $0.00360
Sonnet 5 $0.00144 $0.00144
Haiku 4.5 $0.00072 $0.00072

Security

Grade A, and why

GPTPortal AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

- Health check: `curl http://localhost:3000/health` — quick server status.

Repository Guidelines

Project Structure & Module Organization

  • Root entrypoint: server.js (starts Express via src/server/core/Application).
  • Server code: src/server/ with core/ (app wiring), routes/ (HTTP endpoints), services/ (AI providers, export, tokens), middleware/ (auth, uploads), utils/.
  • Client assets: public/ (static files, uploads/ for chats, prompts, images).
  • Configuration: .env (use .env.example as a template); Docker: Dockerfile, docker-compose.yml.
  • Model catalog: public/js/data/models.json is the single source of truth for models, pricing, and routing. See MODEL_UPDATE.md before adding a model or provider.

Build, Test, and Development Commands

  • Install: npm install — install Node dependencies.
  • Run: npm start (or node server.js) — start the server (reads PORT_SERVER, HOST).
  • Test: npm test — runs scripts/smoke-test.js, validating the model catalog (schema, duplicate keys, category consistency, non-zero pricing, no retired ids) and provider routing. No API keys required. Run it after any change to models.json or provider routing.
  • Docker run: docker compose up — run via Docker (respects env vars).
  • Health check: curl http://localhost:3000/health — quick server status.

Coding Style & Naming Conventions

  • JavaScript (CommonJS): require/module.exports with semicolons; 2‑space indentation.
  • Naming: camelCase for variables/functions; PascalCase for classes (e.g., Application.js, Logger.js); route files are lower‑case (e.g., chat.js).
  • Structure: keep routing in src/server/routes/, business logic in src/server/services/, wiring in src/server/core/.
  • Formatting: no enforced linter; match existing style and file layout.

Testing Guidelines

  • Smoke test: npm test (scripts/smoke-test.js) validates the catalog and routing offline. Keep it green.
  • Beyond that, prefer targeted manual checks:
    • GET /health, GET /api/system/status
    • Chat and AI endpoints mounted by RouteManager (e.g., /message, /compare, /transcribe, /tts, /generate-image).
  • Suggested (optional): add Jest + Supertest for routes; place tests under src/__tests__/ mirroring paths.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

GPTPortal AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository Zaki-1052/GPTPortal (397 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 721 tokens to every session, about $0.0036 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
