In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when installing dependencies, building, type-checking, testing, or modifying the plugin's TypeScript modules and language settings.
Why use it?
They give coding agents the project background, architecture, supported platforms, and commands needed to work safely in the repository.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01347 $0.01347
Opus 5 $0.00674 $0.00674
Sonnet 5 $0.00269 $0.00269
Haiku 4.5 $0.00135 $0.00135

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-mini-hud AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

claude-mini-hud is a minimal, zero-dependency Claude Code StatusLine plugin. It reads JSON from stdin (per the StatusLine contract) and outputs ANSI-colored status lines (context usage, token breakdown, current todo, optional model name). Multi-module architecture under src/.

Commands

npm install # Install dev dependencies
npm run build # Compile TypeScript to dist/
npm run dev # Watch mode compilation
npm run typecheck # Type-check tests (tsconfig.test.json, no emit)
npm test # Full suite: build + typecheck + 57 tests

No linter is configured. Tests use Node.js built-in node:test + node:assert/strict, run via tsx.

Architecture

Multi-module designsrc/ contains:

  1. index.ts — Entry point, stdin reader, main() orchestrator
  2. types.ts — Shared type definitions (StdinData, TodoItem, etc.)
  3. i18n.tsSTRINGS object with zh/en/minimal/ultra-minimal keys, selected by CLAUDE_MINI_HUD_LANG
  4. colors.ts — ANSI color helpers (zero-dependency)
  5. themes.ts — Progress bar theme system (ThemeConfig), selected by CLAUDE_MINI_HUD_THEME
  6. render.ts — All render functions (context, token, model, todo, usage)
  7. transcript.ts — Transcript JSONL parser
  8. usage.ts — Multi-platform usage/quota query (13 providers)

Plugin integration via .claude-plugin/plugin.json (registers the setup command) and commands/setup.md (interactive setup skill).

Two tsconfig filestsconfig.json compiles only src/dist/; tsconfig.test.json adds tests/ with noEmit: true.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
