atimelogger-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

atimelogger-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from zaplitny/atimelogger-mcp. It costs 546 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for atimelogger-mcp, a Node.js and TypeScript server that connects coding agents to the ATimeLogger time-tracking service through an API.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing this MCP server, including installing dependencies, building TypeScript, running development mode, configuring an ATimeLogger token, and testing the compiled server.
Why use it?
They explain where the code lives and which commands build, run, configure, and inspect the server, reducing guesswork during changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00546 $0.00546
Opus 5 $0.00273 $0.00273
Sonnet 5 $0.00109 $0.00109
Haiku 4.5 $0.00055 $0.00055

Security

Grade A, and why

atimelogger-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository Guidelines

Project Structure & Module Organization

This repository is a Node 20+ TypeScript ESM MCP server for the ATimeLogger REST API. Source files live in src/. The entry point is src/index.ts, which creates the MCP server and registers tool groups from src/tools/activities.ts, src/tools/reports.ts, and src/tools/types.ts. Shared API, formatting, timezone, period, and error helpers are in top-level src/*.ts files. scripts/setup.ts verifies a Personal Access Token and prints MCP registration snippets. Build output goes to dist/ and should not be edited by hand.

Build, Test, and Development Commands

  • npm install installs runtime and development dependencies.
  • npm run build runs tsc and emits compiled files into dist/.
  • npm run dev runs the server from src/index.ts through tsx.
  • npm run setup prompts for an ATimeLogger PAT, verifies it, and prints Claude registration config.
  • ATL_BASE_URL=... ATL_TOKEN=... npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector node dist/index.js manually exercises the built MCP server.

Coding Style & Naming Conventions

Use strict TypeScript with ESM imports. Keep .js extensions in relative imports because the project uses moduleResolution: "NodeNext". Follow the existing style: two-space indentation, double quotes, semicolons, small helper functions, and compact JSON responses. Prefer task-shaped MCP tools over direct REST mirrors. Tools accept human-readable activity type names, not UUIDs.

Testing Guidelines

There is no automated test suite yet. Before submitting changes, run npm run build. For behavior changes, manually test with the MCP inspector against a local or production-compatible backend using ATL_TOKEN and, when needed, ATL_BASE_URL. If adding tests, place them near the relevant module or in a clearly named test directory, and name files after the unit under test, for example periods.test.ts.

Commit & Pull Request Guidelines

The current history has a single descriptive commit, so no strict convention is established. Use short, imperative or descriptive subjects such as Add interval pagination handling. Pull requests should explain the user-facing MCP behavior changed, list manual verification commands, and note any backend API assumptions. Include screenshots only when changing setup instructions or client-visible registration output.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
