MathModeling-skills: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

MathModeling-skills AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from zhnnky329/MathModeling-skills. It costs 2,772 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of working rules for mathematical-modeling projects. It separates observations, assumptions, calculations, and conclusions, and keeps track of project settings and records.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to guide project organization, preserve important evidence, and manage different levels of checking for exploratory or final work.
Why use it?
It helps keep modeling work reproducible and makes clear which decisions belong to the human rather than the automated workflow.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; reads ~/.codex paths; mentions Codex.

This is zhnnky329/MathModeling-skills's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on MathModeling-skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything MathModeling-skills configures →

About the project

MathModeling-skills is a collection of Claude Code and Codex skills for mathematical modeling competitions, guiding users through data analysis, method-specific checks, reproducible computations, figures, and paper audits without taking over modeling decisions. It is for contestants who want AI to handle mechanical checks while they retain responsibility for choosing methods and interpreting results. The catalogue entries form the project's skills, instructions, hook, setting, and plugin workflow.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02772 $0.02772
Opus 5.5 $0.01109 $0.01109
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00554 $0.00554
Haiku 4.5 $0.00277 $0.00277

Security

Grade A, and why

MathModeling-skills AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 262 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Core Philosophy

  • The AI owns mechanical correctness; the human owns modeling judgment.
  • Start from goals, objects, constraints, data, outputs, variables, relationships, and checkable conclusions.
  • Do not start from model names or favorite techniques.
  • Separate assumptions, observations, derivations, and validated conclusions.
  • Preserve evidence that changes a decision; do not create files merely to prove that a skill ran.

Configuration

planning/session_config.json has two independent controls:

{
  "interaction_mode": "learning",
  "rigor_profile": "lean"
}
  • interaction_mode: learning or speed. It changes question density and when AI suggestions are shown.
  • rigor_profile: lean or submission. It changes artifact and audit density, never the human-judgment boundary.
  • Default to learning + lean in a fresh workspace.
  • Use lean while exploring and iterating. Switch to submission only when preparing writer handoff or final assembly.
  • For compatibility, read legacy { "mode": "learning" | "speed" } as interaction_mode.

Repository Skill Copies

  • .codex/skills/ and .claude/skills/ are two complete, independently usable skill trees.
  • Every skill and referenced local resource required at runtime must exist in both trees; neither tree may depend on a wrapper, symlink, or path into the other.
  • When a shared skill contract changes, update and validate both copies in the same change.
  • Runtime-specific wording may differ only when necessary, but each copy must remain standalone and behaviorally consistent with this policy.
  • plugins/mathmodeling-skills/skills/ is the generated distribution copy used by both native plugin manifests. After the two standalone trees agree, refresh it with scripts/sync-plugin.sh and verify it with scripts/sync-plugin.sh --check.
  • Keep both plugin manifests and both marketplace catalogs aligned for every release. Bump the version in both plugin manifests and the Claude marketplace entry together.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
