repolayer: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

repolayer CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from zhousiyao03-cyber/repolayer. It costs 2,826 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for repolayer, a Rust command-line tool and MCP server that builds searchable SQLite indexes of one or more code repositories. The indexes describe code relationships, file outlines, dependencies, and search results for AI agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Developing or maintaining the repository-indexing tool, running its integration and adapter tests, checking Rust quality rules, and using its command-line workflows.
Why use it?
They explain how to build, test, lint, and format the tool, so changes can be checked consistently. They also document the project’s supported code and interface formats.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02826 $0.02826
Opus 5 $0.01413 $0.01413
Sonnet 5 $0.00565 $0.00565
Haiku 4.5 $0.00283 $0.00283

Security

Grade A, and why

repolayer CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project

repolayer is a Rust CLI + MCP server that pre-computes 4 SQLite-backed indices (graph, per-file outline, file-level deps, hybrid search) across one or more repos and serves them to AI agents via MCP. Single static binary, ast-grep-core parsing for source languages, bare tree-sitter for IDL (protobuf/thrift). No runtime deps for end users.

Status: v0.3.0. Repositioned as the cross-repo + IDL extension of aeroxy/ast-outline — see NOTICE for adopted components.

Common commands

# Build / test
cargo build # debug build
cargo build --release # release (LTO, stripped, ~47 MB)
cargo test # run all 290+ integration tests
cargo test --test cli_build # run a single integration test file
cargo test adapter_ # all adapter tests by name prefix
cargo test -- --nocapture # show test stdout/stderr
cargo clippy --all-targets -- -D warnings # lint (must be clean)
cargo fmt # format

# End-to-end usage
cargo run -- init # creates repolayer.yml in CWD
cargo run -- build # full index → 4 SQLite files in .repolayer/
cargo run -- update # incremental re-index via `git diff`
cargo run -- serve # start MCP stdio server (logs to stderr)
cargo run -- install --mcp claude-code # write claude_desktop_config.json
cargo run -- prompt # output agent-steering snippet

serve uses stdio for MCP — stdout is reserved for the protocol, all tracing output goes to stderr (configured in src/main.rs). Don't add println! to anything reachable from the serve path.

Architecture

Pipeline (build): config → walk repos in parallel via rayon → ast-grep parse (or bare tree-sitter for IDL) → mpsc-channel-style serial write to 4 SQLite stores → cross-repo gluing → search index → optional LLM summary.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
