Frontapp-MCP: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

Frontapp-MCP CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from zqushair/Frontapp-MCP. It costs 1,730 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project guide for a Front application programming interface server using MCP, the standard that lets AI assistants call tools. Front is a shared inbox service for conversations, messages, contacts, teammates, tags, and analytics.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to develop the TypeScript server, run it with Docker, connect it to Front with an API token, and watch its logs.
Why use it?
It explains how to build, run, containerize, and monitor the server instead of requiring developers to infer the workflow from the code.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Fable 5.1 $0.01730 $0.01730
Opus 5 $0.00865 $0.00865

Security

Grade A, and why

Frontapp-MCP CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

CLAUDE.md

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

Overview

This is a Frontapp MCP Server - a Model Context Protocol server that enables Claude Code to interact with the Frontapp API. It provides comprehensive access to conversations, messages, contacts, teammates, tags, inboxes, comments, and analytics.

The server runs in a Docker container and communicates with Claude Code via stdio (standard input/output).

Development Commands

Building and Running

# Build TypeScript
npm run build

# Development with watch mode
npm run watch

# Start the server (requires FRONTAPP_API_TOKEN env var)
npm start

# Or use Docker (recommended)
make build # Build Docker image
make up # Start container
make down # Stop container
make restart # Restart container
make logs # View logs
make shell # Open shell in container

Docker Development

The project uses Docker Compose with a multi-stage build:

  • Stage 1: Build TypeScript with full dependencies
  • Stage 2: Production image with only runtime dependencies
# Direct Docker commands
docker compose build
docker compose up -d
docker compose logs -f

Architecture

Single-File MCP Server

The entire MCP server implementation is in frontapp_mcp.ts. It follows this structure:

  1. FrontappMCPServer class - Main server implementation

    • constructor() - Initializes MCP Server and Axios instance with API token
    • setupHandlers() - Registers tool, resource, and request handlers
    • Private methods for each API operation (list/get/create/update/delete)
  2. MCP Protocol Implementation:

    • ListToolsRequestSchema - Returns 20+ tool definitions
    • CallToolRequestSchema - Routes tool calls to appropriate API methods
    • ListResourcesRequestSchema - Exposes quick-access resources
    • ReadResourceRequestSchema - Fetches resource data
  3. Communication Flow:

    Claude Code
      ↓ (stdio pipe)
    docker-mcp-wrapper.sh
      ↓ (docker exec)
    Docker Container
      ↓ (node dist/index.js)
    FrontappMCPServer
      ↓ (HTTPS with Bearer token)
    Frontapp API (api2.frontapp.com)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

Frontapp-MCP CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository zqushair/Frontapp-MCP (19 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 1,730 tokens to every session, about $0.0086 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
