Repository instructions for a Node.js project that uses modern JavaScript modules and documents its release process.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when writing JavaScript, updating versions or changelogs, synchronising the lockfile, or preparing a release.
Why use it?
They prevent incompatible module syntax and outline the files and steps needed for a consistent release.

About the project

Zylos is open-source infrastructure that gives an AI agent persistent memory, scheduled activity, communication channels, and the ability to maintain and extend itself. Individuals and teams use it with Claude Code or Codex through Telegram, Lark, or a web console. Its catalogue add-ons define settings, instructions, and skills for operating the agent.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01517 $0.01517
Opus 5 $0.00758 $0.00758
Sonnet 5 $0.00303 $0.00303
Haiku 4.5 $0.00152 $0.00152

Measured 11d ago against content hash 40783e7f59d1, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade B, and why

zylos-core CLAUDE.md scanned grade B with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

Project Standards

Programming Language

  • Language: Node.js (JavaScript)
  • Runtime: Node.js 20+

Module System

This project is ESM-only.

  • ✅ Always use import / export
  • ❌ Do NOT use CommonJS (require, module.exports)
  • ❌ Do NOT mix module systems

Examples:

// ✅ Correct (ESM)
import { execFileSync } from 'child_process';
import path from 'path';
import os from 'os';
import fs from 'fs';

export function myFunction() {
  // ...
}

export default myClass;
// ❌ Wrong (CommonJS)
const { execFileSync } = require('child_process');
const path = require('path');

module.exports = myFunction;

Release Process

When releasing a new version:

  1. Update package.json — bump version field to the new version number
  2. Update package-lock.json — run npm install to sync the lock file with the new version
  3. Update CHANGELOG.md — add a new section following Keep a Changelog format with Added/Fixed/Changed/Removed subsections as applicable
  4. Commit and push — include all three files in the PR
  5. Merge PR first — all changes must be merged to main before tagging
  6. Tag and release — after merge, create a git tag (vX.Y.Z) on main and a GitHub release with release notes summarizing the changelog

Version numbers follow Semantic Versioning.

Project Structure

  • skills/ - Claude Code skills (modular workflows)
  • cli/ - Command-line interface tools

Skills

Each skill is a self-contained module in skills/<skill-name>/:

  • SKILL.md - Skill documentation (YAML frontmatter + usage guide)
  • <skill-name>.js - Main implementation (ESM)
  • package.json - Must include {"type":"module"} (add dependencies if needed)
  • Other supporting files as needed

Skill Data Directory

Runtime data (logs, databases, config) goes in ~/zylos/<skill-name>/, NOT in the skill source directory.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
