What is mcp-local-rag?

A local retrieval-augmented generation server that lets an agent search files and use the results as context. It runs on your own computer through the mcp-local-rag npm package and requires eight environment settings.

Use it to set up a local file-search service for an agent. You would configure its base directory, database, cache, model, file-size limit, search distance, grouping, and maximum file count.

It provides a way to search a local collection of files without sending that file search service to a remote server. The configuration controls locations, the model, file limits, and search behavior.
