What is protected-paths-guard?

A file-write guard that blocks edits to sensitive paths, including environment files, lockfiles, CI workflows, Git internals, and private keys. It supports extra protected patterns and explicit allowlisted exceptions.

Use it to protect sensitive files during Edit, Write, and NotebookEdit operations, while adding project-specific protected or always-allowed path patterns.

It stops an agent from changing files that can expose secrets, alter dependency integrity, break automation, or damage repository history. Allowed paths can override the default protection.
