What is documenting-with-sources?

A set of rules for writing Markdown documents that use outside sources. It covers citations, quotations, source lists, and avoiding unsupported connections between sources and claims.

Use it when creating research summaries, paper notes, surveys, or other documents based on external material. It guides in-text references, quotation handling, and source-list formatting.

It helps readers distinguish sourced facts from the writer’s own explanation. It also reduces the risk of missing citations or presenting an association that the sources do not support.
