dbv-specs-ops: Cursor rule for Windsurf

.windsurfrules

windsurfrules is a cursor rule for Windsurf from davidbuenov/dbv-specs-ops. It costs 402 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project rules for using Spec-Driven Development, a process where requirements and architecture are written down before code is proposed. The rules tell an agent which project documents to read and which workflow to follow.

In plain words
What is it for?
It guides agents through project initialization, specification checks, planning, and coding decisions by requiring them to read configuration, specification, architecture, design, memory, and task files first.
Why use it?
It keeps code suggestions aligned with the project's requirements, design decisions, current task, and stored context. It also tells the agent to stop and report if the central instructions conflict with the project specifications.

Cursor rule for Windsurf

Written for Windsurf: a Windsurf rule.

This is davidbuenov/dbv-specs-ops's own configuration. It tells Windsurf how to work on dbv-specs-ops itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything dbv-specs-ops configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00402 $0.00402
Opus 5.5 $0.00161 $0.00161
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00080 $0.00080
Haiku 4.5 $0.00040 $0.00040

Measured 8d ago against content hash 3999da118a46, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

windsurfrules scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Windsurf Rules — dbv-specs-ops

This project uses Spec-Driven Development (SDD). Apply these rules in all interactions.

Before proposing any code

  1. Read project.config.md to get the project name, author, license and file header template
  2. Read docs/SPECIFICATIONS.md to understand the current requirements
  3. Read docs/ARCHITECTURE.md to respect the stack and technical decisions
  4. Read docs/DESIGN.md to respect the visual design system — colors, typography and components (if it exists)
  5. Read memory.md to load the qualitative context and technical decisions
  6. Read task.md to know the current project state

The full workflow and development rules are in docs/MASTER_PROMPT.md.

Path note (subfolder isolation): In consumer projects where this framework lives inside the dbv-specs-ops/ subfolder, prefix every path above with dbv-specs-ops/ (e.g. dbv-specs-ops/docs/MASTER_PROMPT.md, dbv-specs-ops/task.md). If docs/MASTER_PROMPT.md exists at the workspace root, you are inside the framework repository itself and the paths are those above.

⚠️ Core Rules (Strong Pointer)

Read docs/MASTER_PROMPT.md and follow its workflow strictly. If you detect contradictions between the prompt and project specs, halt and report before proceeding. All initialization logic (Bootstrap), state checking (Specs Check), lifecycle (Workflow) and coding standards are centrally defined there to avoid cognitive redundancy.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
