zk-circuit-rules

zk-circuit-rules is a cursor rule for Cursor from j4flmao/agent-skills. It costs 26 tokens per session (330 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of rules for writing zero-knowledge circuits and smart contracts that verify zero-knowledge proofs. Zero-knowledge proofs let someone prove a claim without revealing the private information behind it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when generating or reviewing Circom, Halo2, or Cairo circuits and the contracts that check their proofs.
Why use it?
It guards against missing mathematical constraints, leaked private inputs, and values that are meant to be boolean but can take any value.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00026 $0.00330
Opus 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00132
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

zk-circuit-rules scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

ZK Circuit Security Standards

Cursor/AI MUST follow these rules when writing Zero-Knowledge circuits (Circom, Halo2, Cairo) or Smart Contracts that verify ZK proofs.

1. Constraint Completeness

  • Rule: In ZK circuits, assigning a value to a variable does NOT constrain it. You MUST explicitly write mathematical constraints (<== or === in Circom) for every logic step.
  • Danger: If an AI assigns out = in1 * in2 without constraining it, a malicious Prover can forge a proof where out = 999999 regardless of the inputs.

2. Private Signal Protection (No Leakage)

  • Rule: Never expose private inputs (Witnesses) as public outputs unless mathematically hashed (e.g., Poseidon Hash).
  • Action: Always double-check that the main component explicitly marks private variables (e.g., component main {public [pub_key]} = MyCircuit();).

3. Prevent Under-Constrained Signals

  • Rule: When dealing with boolean checks, you MUST constrain the signal to be strictly 0 or 1.
    // BAD: Signal can be anything
    signal input b;

    // GOOD: Force boolean
    signal input b;
    b * (b - 1) === 0;

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

zk-circuit-rules is a cursor rule published in the GitHub repository j4flmao/agent-skills (33 stars, last pushed 10d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 26 tokens to every session and 330 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-05.
