add-trimble-identity-auth

add-trimble-identity-auth is a cursor rule for Cursor from julianoczkowski/create-trimble-app. It costs 0 tokens per session (2,209 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for adding Trimble Identity login to an Angular application using the Modus design system. Trimble Identity provides OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect sign-in, which let an app authenticate users through Trimble.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding sign-in, logout, protected routes, or authenticated API requests to an Angular app that uses Trimble Identity.
Why use it?
It removes the need to design the login flow, route protection, and request authentication integration from scratch. The rules cover the SDK, environment settings, redirects, and Angular services, guards, and interceptors.

Cursor rule for Cursor

Written for Cursor: installed under .cursor/.

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is import { environment } from '../../environments/environment';.

Good fit Use it when adding sign-in, logout, protected routes, or authenticated API requests to an Angular app that uses Trimble Identity.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.02209
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.01104
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00442
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00221

Security

Grade A, and why

add-trimble-identity-auth scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Add Trimble Identity Authentication (Angular)

Use this rule when the user asks to add authentication, TID, Trimble Identity, login, or sign-in functionality to their Angular app.

Overview

This adds OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect authentication via Trimble Identity using the core @trimble-oss/trimble-id SDK (framework-agnostic) wrapped in Angular-native services, guards, and interceptors. All app routes are protected behind authentication, with automatic redirect to the TID login page for unauthenticated users.

Step 1: Install the SDK

npm install @trimble-oss/trimble-id

Step 2: Add Environment Variables

Update src/environments/environment.development.ts:

export const environment = {
  production: false,
  devPanel: true,
  tid: {
    configurationEndpoint: 'https://stage.id.trimblecloud.com/.well-known/openid-configuration',
    clientId: 'your-client-id-here',
    redirectUrl: 'http://localhost:4200/callback',
    logoutRedirectUrl: 'http://localhost:4200/logout-callback',
    scopes: ['your-app-scope'],
  },
};

Update src/environments/environment.ts:

export const environment = {
  production: true,
  devPanel: false,
  tid: {
    configurationEndpoint: 'https://id.trimble.com/.well-known/openid-configuration',
    clientId: 'your-client-id-here',
    redirectUrl: 'https://your-domain.com/callback',
    logoutRedirectUrl: 'https://your-domain.com/logout-callback',
    scopes: ['your-app-scope'],
  },
};

Step 3: Create the Auth Service

Create src/app/services/auth.service.ts:

import { Injectable, signal, computed } from '@angular/core';
import { TIDClient } from '@trimble-oss/trimble-id';
import { environment } from '../../environments/environment';

export interface TIDUser {
  id?: string;
  name?: string;
  given_name?: string;
  family_name?: string;
  picture?: string;
  email?: string;
  email_verified?: boolean;
  account_id?: string;
}

@Injectable({ providedIn: 'root' })
export class AuthService {
  private readonly client = new TIDClient({
    config: {
      configurationEndpoint: environment.tid.configurationEndpoint,
      clientId: environment.tid.clientId,
      redirectUrl: environment.tid.redirectUrl,
      logoutRedirectUrl: environment.tid.logoutRedirectUrl,
      scopes: environment.tid.scopes,
    },
  });

  private readonly _user = signal<TIDUser | undefined>(undefined);
  private readonly _isLoading = signal(true);
  private readonly _error = signal<Error | undefined>(undefined);

  readonly user = this._user.asReadonly();
  readonly isLoading = this._isLoading.asReadonly();
  readonly error = this._error.asReadonly();
  readonly isAuthenticated = computed(() => this._user() != null);

  async initialize(): Promise<void> {
    try {
      if (this.hasAuthParams()) {
        const { authState } = await this.client.handleCallback();
        const user = await this.client.getUser();
        this._user.set(user as TIDUser | undefined);
        const returnTo = (authState as { returnTo?: string })?.returnTo || '/';
        window.location.replace(returnTo);
      } else {
        await this.client.loadUserSession();
        const user = await this.client.getUser();
        this._user.set(user as TIDUser | undefined);
      }
    } catch (error) {
      this._error.set(error instanceof Error ? error : new Error(String(error)));
    } finally {
      this._isLoading.set(false);
    }
  }

  async loginWithRedirect(): Promise<void> {
    await this.client.loginWithRedirect();
  }

  async logout(): Promise<void> {
    await this.client.logout();
  }

  async getAccessTokenSilently(): Promise<string> {
    const token = await this.client.getAccessTokenSilently();
    const user = await this.client.getUser();
    this._user.set(user as TIDUser | undefined);
    return token;
  }

  private hasAuthParams(): boolean {
    const params = new URLSearchParams(window.location.search);
    const currentUrl = window.location.origin + window.location.pathname;
    const redirectUrl = environment.tid.redirectUrl.split('?')[0];
    return currentUrl === redirectUrl && params.has('code') && params.has('state');
  }
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

add-trimble-identity-auth is a cursor rule published in the GitHub repository julianoczkowski/create-trimble-app (3 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 2,209 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings.
